Where is the money coming from for emerging nations to take part in a biennial world cup? The African sides in particular already struggle to fundraise once every four years, let alone every two.
And as for the Continental Cup, how are they defining the borders? Because as far as I can see, this will preclude one of Aus or NZ every time, automatically reducing the potential audience and sponsorship income from the Southern Hemisphere by 50%.
Let’s hope they keep thinking….
Australia -Asia
NZ – Oceania
England – Europe
Jamaica – America
SA/Uganda? – Africa
In theory that is.I may have interpreted it incorrectly, but I thought I read it that Australia, NZ and England were there main financial contributors/partiticipants, and therefore automatically qualified. So it would be an additional team from Asia, Oceania and Europe.. and of course Africa and America.

Trying to get my head around the schedule:
2025 – Continental Cup
2026 – Continental Cup
2027 – World Cup
2028 – Continental Cup
2029 – World Cup
etcI can definitely see the value in a Continental Cup every non-World Cup year but I think a World Cup every two years is too many. How does the CWG, Constellation Cup or Tiani Jamison trophy fit into this?
In a perfect world, the ANZP would run at a separate schedule to the SSN, allowing Kiwi players to play in both without affecting Ferns’ eligibility. This would affect SSN pre-season for those teams choosing to take on Kiwi players, but SSN teams may consider the trade-off worth it for some players!
Yeah, personally not in favour of a WC every 2 years.
