The article says Amy Sligar is cleared to play who is in the contracted 10 – it’s Nat Sligar whose unavailable.
There’s another artcile (https://supernetball.com.au/news/giants-request-reschedule) that says it’s only 3 players who have covid and two others have cleared isolation but waiting for medical clearance so perhaps it’s not as bad as being reported.

Are Jemma Donoghue, Eliza Burton and Nat Sligar part of the squad? do training partners count as squad? Might be the technicality there?

This is not a complaint about the umpiring as they are doing what they do to their ability, but having two UK umpires, the English players know their umpiring style and interpretations and so have been able to play through the quirky calls, some of which are baffling to Aussie players and fans.
The cautions are a bit uncalled for, getting sucked in by Housby’s dramatics a bit

Moloney and JLP have had similar game time this series
JLP had one quarter / one quarter and full game – all in C
Moloney sat out first game then had three quarters in C (plus part of the quarter in WD) then three quarters in WD.
JLP only tried in one position C, along with Hadley and Moloney
Moloney tried in C and WD, the only other WD is BRAZ (who will surely start)
Without looking at stats it would be interesting to know what the coaches are thinking/reasoning

Can’t insert picture but Team list out for Final on Diamonds Insta and FB

              Watson / Wood / Bueta / Garbin / Koenen / Brazill / JLP / Hadley / Aryang / Weston / Bruce / Klau
(out Moloney / Turner / Dwyer)

Facebook going crazy that JLP is on over Moloney

My two cents on SA vs AUS game
Shooting circle took more time to gel in first quarter than first game. Gretel was running around more and came out of circle more and crowded the space. Wood played well again. I thought Moloney had a solid game (although a few loose balls). She and Hadley are quite similar in that they provide good dependable back up play to a strong WA (like Watson who wasn’t in this game). Hadley played more like a C. JLP appeared to throw a lot of ball away when she came on (in both games). Moloney did well in WD when she came on there and would have her before JLP.
Aryang I feel marked the GA better and got her hand to a few more balls (haven’t checked GA stats tho. She had a good maiden game. Turner looked a little lost playing with unfamiliar Bruce rather than Klau. Aryang was introduced with her regular pairing with Bruce.
I would suggest (particularly if Dwyer doesn’t get much game time against ENG) that if Austin has a strong SSN then she will be the 4th shooter and GA back up.

Someone on Facebook speculated the timing of the Gabby Coffey article may be linked to her going to be announced in Firebirds, which is a reasonable assumption.

Replying to Jayceenz – English defence got away with stuff our girls got pulled up for. Go figure! Happens everytime. Serena not my choice for MVP either.

And what about George Fisher getting pulled up for less than Maia Wilson who either held onto or pushed off Mentor and only got 1 call I think? Again that happens every time too so balanced up the apparent defense bias

Gareth Fowler is so out of position getting too far ahead of the ball, is missing clear penalties, missed Jury slap Fisher on the arm as he paid the intercept and then missed Winders play the ball with a knee on the ground. And his 3ft is so inconsistent, noticed that last game too

If squads remain at 10, it will most likely be 2 of Mundy, Smith, Dehaney (there’s been talk of Mannix leaving but I don’t see that happening?). Shooters – Kumwenda +2 / Middies – Watson/Moloney/+2 (of Mundy/Smith/Eddy) / Defenders – Weston / Mannix / (Eddy/Dehaney) here?

I don’t watch many NZ games due to timing of the games but have watched all three this weekend. Yesterday’s were amazing – the NZ style of old.
Wilson is a thug and a drama queen. What is keeping Stars in it is Selby-Ricket doesn’t run or defend the shot. Harrison is an amazing athlete – never gives up. Like the Steel GK also.
Both teams only have one lead to the ball and the commentators talk about the intensity – wtf
And the umpiring is so inconsistent, no wonder players are asking questions of them.
Can’t watch any more so will look here later for the score.
Clearly Magic haven’t played well all season, as the Magic of yesterday would have thrashed both teams tonight.

Mannix out with an injured knuckle (potentially for e few weeks)
Samason is in the 10 – the way Sharelle is talking she will get game time too

The article quoted Stuart as saying “if I can’t be having tough conversations with my better players I might as well be coaching netball.”

Aussies struggling to adjust to NZ umpires.
And no-one can ever complain about Aussie defenders’ physicality with Maia (give em a shove and hold the arm) Wilson on court.

I’m a bit indifferent to this decision, very glad there is a broadcast deal and netball is available for fans to watch if they choose. Yes there is an additional cost but at least we can watch if can’t get to games.

I do have a problem with the statement – This deal will see the same number of matches delivered free to fans through Kayo Freebies as the deal currently in place. – this is incorrect as you could view all matches on 9NOW (with only a 4 hour delay). I’m assuming you won’t have playback option on Kayo Free?
