Let’s just celebrate the game of netball and the good that this match has done for netball communities.AllieCParticipantMarch 1, 2020 at 3:34 amPost count: 28
I don’t think they will be used anywhere near what they are in this game. I can’t see many more changes being made than the fake injury ones in normal gamesAllieCParticipantMarch 1, 2020 at 3:04 amPost count: 28
Minkie I think you are overreacting a bit. Netball doesn’t have to replicate what other events have done. This fundraiser is not for the CFA or other groups it’s to raise money to give to netball in fire affected communities. Most of this money will come from corporate partners. I’m sure they are well aware of the fact that the public has been asked non-stop for donations so this is a little different.
There have been plenty of mentions on the radio and they’ve mentioned the volunteers that are attending too.AllieCParticipantMarch 1, 2020 at 2:35 amPost count: 28
That’s the whole idea for this match. They want court time for each player. I can’t see this happening in SSN.AllieCParticipantJanuary 28, 2020 at 9:52 pmPost count: 28
Excellent article.AllieCParticipantJanuary 25, 2020 at 7:06 amPost count: 28
I agree with everything on the list you have posted. My top two fixes would be:
Brning back topics by freshness
Staying logged in
I think like many others, I have not been a regular here since the changes. I truly appreciate this site and the huge amount of VOLUNTEER work that happens to keep it going. I know that I really appreciate the wonderful articles and that chat but it has just become too hard.
I like the idea of Topics by Freshness – Netball and Non Netball and do away with heaps of the other sub forums.
I think having a “donation month” is a fantastic idea and I’d be happy to contribute again.AllieCParticipantJanuary 14, 2020 at 9:58 pmPost count: 28
They said ticket info etc will be coming out soon. I would love to go but not possible for me to get there. Hopefully Ch9 will televise it and we can all watch. I think there might be a record crowd :)AllieCParticipantJanuary 5, 2020 at 9:46 pmPost count: 28
Not personally affected but know many who are. We are a long way from any fires but my brother was evacuated from his Adelaide Hills home in the week before Christmas and many friends of his lost their homes. A friend worked at the Southern Ocean Lodge in Kangaroo Island which was burnt down (had not long been there, moved from Darwin for the job) and lost all her belongings and car and now has no job. A guy in my gym group was in Batemans Bay over New Year with family so went through hell there, another was home in Mallacoota for Christmas and that has been horrendous and it goes on. Lots of other friends who live in bushfire zones so the worry has been constant.
I don’t think there would be many people in Australia who don’t know someone affected. It is really horrific.AllieCParticipantNovember 10, 2019 at 9:55 pmPost count: 28AllieCParticipantOctober 27, 2019 at 11:07 pmPost count: 28
JWT was asked about coaching in the Inner Circle podcast and she said it isn’t something that she wants to do again fulltime.AllieCParticipantOctober 27, 2019 at 11:05 pmPost count: 28
Minkie I don’t think anyone was comfortable with that umpiring. It was appalling for an international match and hopefully this will get the conversation going as to what to do with umpiring scheduling in the future. What most people are trying to say is that they don’t believe that it would have changed the result.AllieCParticipantOctober 20, 2019 at 11:19 pmPost count: 28
Something the Diamonds are really missing is leadership on the court. There isn’t anyone in my opinion who really stands up like a Simpson, Geitz etc out there. In those crucial last minutes having an on court leader who can steady them and remind them of the game plan is key. We just don’t have anyone to do that.
Langman is a master of knowing what is happening re the time – example of I think it was the end of the 3rd quarter where there were 4 seconds to go with NZ centre pass and she went to defend the C pass as if it was Aus. Experienced umpires would have called her for time wasting (I’m sure I’ve seen her pulled for this before and they lost the C) and awarded first pass of the next quarter to Aus. I don’t blame her for doing this at all, it is smart play. Same as running that clock in the last minute or so of the game, we don’t seem to be able to do it well at all at the moment.AllieCParticipantOctober 20, 2019 at 3:47 amPost count: 28
