Based on Luke’s latest cryptic tweet, I am pretty sure Sophie Drakeford-Lewis has secured an SSN contract.
She is an English rose (strawberries and cream – red and white) and represented GB as a tennis junior, was a ball girl and a match statistician at Wimbledon (makes Wimbledon delight)
But which club?? Did Dan Ryan spot her during his time in VNSL? Thunderbirds have history of imports? Vixens could do with someone with her movement and accuracy?

Tbirds just seem to have dropped/lost the heart and soul of their club in Pitman, Shimmin, Glasgow, and Guscoth. They were flat in Round 1 and lacked leadership on the court.
I predict wooden spoon for them which is so disappointing because they looked to be building something special towards the back end of the 2020 season.
The way they treated Pitman especially was (a) heartbreaking (b) illogical. I will never understand.

Based on the wording of their press release, our wish for Pitman has not come true 💔
I hope they prove me wrong, but it looks like a development year for the Vixens as I don’t think they will realistically challenge for top-4 with this attacking line up.
I hope they have a strategy for retaining the midcourt talent and depth they’re building once Liz comes back into the fold, otherwise this year will be in vein..
However, in Simone we trust.Netballcrazy25ParticipantApril 25, 2021 at 6:16 pmPost count: 21
I’ve been holding out a bit of hope, but one week out from the season start and Chels seems to be in Perkina, SA per her socials. It’s not looking at all likely she is the injury replacement 💔
Glad she seems to be enjoying life, but selfishly would have loved to see her in ssn this year.Netballcrazy25ParticipantApril 20, 2021 at 4:46 pmPost count: 21Netballcrazy25ParticipantApril 10, 2021 at 8:48 amPost count: 21
I feel like this match preview pretty much confirms that the Vixens will look to elevate a TP rather than recruit from outside their environment.
It is such a shame because I really can’t see them being competitive without an experienced attacking mid-courter 💔Netballcrazy25ParticipantApril 6, 2021 at 5:34 pmPost count: 21
I am speculating obviously, but surely if a player has a season ending injury their pay would not be included in the salary cap i.e. it is a calculated based on the team available for selection during the season. I think we can assume Watson is on a high, if not the highest, salary within the team so they have room to offer Pitman a decent salary to move interstate without going over the salary cap (whether they can fund it as a club is a different question)
Another consideration for Pitman is that if she’s playing SSN, she will be eligible for Roses full time program selection (selections happening in the next few weeks), which I assume the athletes are remunerated for.
If they are elevating a training partner, it will almost certainly be Honey who has been in and around the training environment for years – not sure what more insight a pre-season match will give.
There is only 4 weeks until the start of the season so you’d think they would want to get the replacement confirmed and brought into the training environment (if non-TP) ASAP to start building those connections, so still hopeful for an announcement soon 🤞Netballcrazy25ParticipantApril 6, 2021 at 6:43 amPost count: 21
I wonder when we will hear some news re Watson’s replacement.
I hope they bring in Pitman – the attack line needs a dominant and experienced WA and Pitman is great at supporting and bringing out the best in the youngsters around her (Horjus and Nankivell)
If they elevate Honey before she is ready I think that will hold all of the emerging talents in that attack line back – the balance of experience and youth is an important one when building confidence and game smarts.
Hopefully there will be an announcement today 🤞

I didn’t love Austin at GA today. Lots of turnovers, often casual on the take and her drives weren’t strong enough to break through the NZ zone defence and open up Bassett.
I would love to see Tippah given a run out as the only other true GA option.
The Aussie midcourt felt chaotic – Watson was stifled and not able to do what she does best.
For game 2, I hope they pair her with Hadley at C who is more unassuming, but experienced and level-headed in attack.
I hope the circle partnership between Bruce and Weston is given the time to grow over the series, because that is where they are at their best (although Weston did get job at WD today)
The ferns seem generally united and slick – I think they will grow over the series which is scary for the Diamonds.
Wilson stood up and delivered against her biggest international challenge to-date in Bruce.
The midcourt fired and I’m looking forward to seeing how Noeline rotates the squad throughout the series.Netballcrazy25ParticipantNovember 12, 2020 at 9:17 amPost count: 21
I’m sure she could have secured a VNSL contract, but she’s very settled in Adelaide and probably didn’t want to leave her family – especially with the uncertainty around COVID. If match day squad sizes are extended to 12, she might nab a TP role if the prem season dates don’t clash?
Really hoping this isn’t the last we see of Chelsea at SSN level, but whatever the future looks like there is no denying she is a class act and should hold her head high.Netballcrazy25ParticipantNovember 11, 2020 at 10:26 pmPost count: 21
What a disastrous signing period for Adelaide – and according to netty Twitter, there is more news to come out of the Adelaide camp.
Sterling has never really settled in Adelaide and now she has lost seemingly her closest teammate (and housemate?) in Layla.
Will Sterling want to make sacrifices just to sign with a team that will inevitably be the wooden spoon of the competition next year?
The only saving grace for Adelaide is that it’s late in the signing period and they must have a big chunk of the salary cap left so that may lure her back for one last season…Netballcrazy25ParticipantNovember 3, 2020 at 3:35 amPost count: 21
It’s exciting that these young players have been offered opportunities, but I’m just not feeling this Tbirds line up as a collective.
I felt like they had the perfect balance of youth and experience this year, were competitive and were building towards something special in 2021.
Whilst the defence end will no doubt win them plenty of ball, with the roster changes, they now lack any experience in their attacking midcourt.
I fear the young guns are going to feel exposed out there in 2021 and they will lose their competitiveness.

In their previous release, Rhinos said their outstanding announcement was pending medical clearance..
Could it be Eboni B-C? (Although I can’t see her uprooting her family from Bath)
Who else has been injured or pregnant that could be making a comeback at Rhinos?Netballcrazy25ParticipantNovember 3, 2020 at 3:13 amPost count: 21
Any guesses when Giants will announce their final player?
I think they desperately need some experience and a change up in their attacking midcourt and so I really do hope it is Pitman, although I have a feeling they will go defence heavy again and sign Brandley..
