in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1373690
The Super League might be excited that they’ve announced the 8 teams privileged to continue performing at the top level but that is not the view from those teams & their supporters that have been excluded. Whole swathes of England & the whole of Scotland have no representative team, no motivation to reach that level & resultant waning enthusiasm. Maybe this is the Australian or NZ model & there’s a desire to bridge the gap but this could well be a huge disaster & probably deserves to be!
in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1372608I don’t think there is any danger of a Bath player getting that accolade. An absolutely atrocious performance. I’ll be amazed if they beat Sirens next week. Changes are needed at Team Bath.
in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1372271Is the continued underperformance of Team Bath due to the low conversion rates of their shooters rather than poor coaching? Whilst it’s not nice to pin this on individuals is it a fact that you need two 90%+ shooters to win matches at this level when the rest of the team are performing adequately?
in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1372128There’s a lot of confident talk from the head coach about Bath having shown a consistent improvement. Whether they have or not will be tested in two matches to come, Cardiff Dragons, whose form seems to have declined, & Strathclyde Sirens who have been on a par with us all seasons. If we cannot win either or preferably both of those that improvement will be unproven.
in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1371193Re. Team Bath – I suppose expressing doom & gloom gets you nowhere but the endless positivity expressed by Stacey Francis whilst losing every match, bar one, is hard to take. Surely a fresh coach needs to be appointed next season, one who can get some improvement out of these players. The comment is continually made that they are a very young & inexperienced team but is that really the case compared to all their rivals?
in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1370595Another comfortable defeat for Team Bath. The purpose of a coach is to improve players’ individual & collective performances. This is just not happening at Bath judging by the results.
in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1370121Another dire performance by Bath. They surely can’t wait for the season to end & have a reorganisation of the coaching staff to give them any hope whatsoever next seaso.
in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1369455Surprise, surprise Bath have lost again. This time we were demolished in the first half by a team one place above us. The fact that we only lost the 2nd half by one point is construed by the head coach as a success. She keeps saying that too many mistakes are being made. Surely the data will indicate who is making most of the mistakes so surely it’s time for the culprits to be left out. Difficult to do, of course, if they’re spread evenly throughout the team!
in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1369348If you look at Bath’s lineup is it that much worse than most of their rivals. They have had comings & going over the last few years but so have many other teams who are doing better. It seems likely that the current coaching setup is doing a pretty poor job.
in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1369336It seems clear that there are just two teams well off the pace & trying to avoid the wooden spoon this season & they are Sirens & Bath. I don’t know why Bath continue to struggle so badly as they have some seemingly good players. Surely a change of head coach must be on the cards for next season?
in reply to: 2023 NSL ROUND 20 #1360578Another 25 point defeat. Thank goodness this season is over!
in reply to: 2023 NSL ROUND 18 #1359939“Here’s a good win for Bath after playing their second game for the round”
Can’t deny that. It shows they can get their act together when they really focus. It has been such an erratic season, occasional decent performances interspersed with dire ones such as being hammered by Sirens & throwing away decent leads on at least 2 occasions. The final match against the likely winners won’t show us much so who knows what to expect next season.
in reply to: 2023 NSL ROUND 18 #1359659Another substantial lead by Bath overturned. This is becoming a dreadful habit which the coaches are completely unable to address. This has been a calamitous season for Bath & difficult decisions will have to be addressed.
in reply to: 2023 NSL ROUND 17 #1359320Being competitive against Thunder was a surprise after recent debacles. Thunder have shown a recent decline in form so it’s not as much of a shock as it would have been but a shock nevertheless. I wonder what next season will bring. Will there be a further churn of players & maybe a different head coach or will they hope that the current crop show considerable development a year from now?
