I think Glasgow needs to play with an experienced GA. She got that playing with Folau, they worked so well together. Glasgow just hasn’t had the same support this season, or the court time. I don’t blame her opting to leave Tbirds, Potgeiter is always going to be no1 GS.
Well England not having a WA will level it up lol.
in reply to: 2020 SSN MINOR SEMI FINAL – FEVER v SWIFTS #1314074JoyJamie you should be able to read the article, I’m in UK too and Sydney Morning Herald isn’t blocked. Basically Akle was going on about replays but seems to be ignoring her own team was just a bad, and then there was the pushing of Francis into the circle. Personally I find the calling a Timeout when the other team gets momentum is a form of cheating so I have zero sympathy. Really comes across as sour grapes.
I think the difference was that fever haven’t rotated players so much so we’re in a better position to grind out the win. They just kept chipping away and the Fever coach made the right tactical player changes at the right time. Swifts had rotated so much I still don’t know what their strongest 7 really is.
in reply to: CENTRAL PULSE 2021 #1313951What a really crap way to treat a player. Why not just have her and Bassett? Going to need all the shooting power they can get with that lopsided defence they’ve signed. Seems to me magic need a coaching/management clear out.
in reply to: Rob Wright not offered a new contract #1313674Magpies played really well last season when Wright was away and the assist coaches let the players get on with it instead of calling time outs all the time.
in reply to: England squad to play New Zealand #1313673It’s ridiculous. How many WD’s do we need?! And making Gabby Marshall a C/WA when she’s a C/WD is stupid. We’ve done that before with Serena Guthrie. It doesn’t work. Iona Christian was the WA for the WYC, why isn’t she included? If Pitman retired and Haythornthwaite was injured then who is the upcoming WA? Is it really Parsons? And why wasn’t Sasha Corbin included? She’s the other old head at WA. I get the awful feeling Roses are heading for a dire CWG 2022.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1313151Why on earth would Haythornthwaite choose to move back to VNSL? Makes no sense to me.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1313050Isn’t this what nearly happened to Geva Mentor? Lightning started negotiations by mentioning her age and she wasnt happy with that so went looking elsewhere. I thought it was quite surprising giving NT was recruiting old players back into the Ferns.
We just don’t know what happened in negotiations but it would be a huge mistake if they literally said they’re not renewing and that was it. Even if they don’t think she’s a starting 7 player anymore it’s stupid not to have her on the bench for 2021.
in reply to: Thoughts on a possible Australian team #1312929I dont know how much the Diamonds play against other nations outside of the Quad series and Constellation Cup, but my team selection would definitely change for a tour outside those competitions. I’d tweak my choice to get the caps and experience up.
in reply to: Thoughts on a possible Australian team #1312793GS Bassett
GA Wood
WA Watson
C JLP
WD Simpson
GD Weston
Gk BruceBench:
Austin
Koenen
Brandley
Moore
HadleyA mixture of experience, and youth. I’ve included Moore and Hadley because this season they’ve shown how versatile they are. JLP gets in the starting 7 because of the experience of the other starting 6 and I feel she’s the strongest C Australia have at the moment.
Maybe magic are trying to import Cardwell. The announcements for VNSL are very slow even though the window is smaller this year so I’m wondering if there might be some more major moves happening.
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 13 – MAGPIES v LIGHTNING #1312547Magpies played well last year when Wright was away and the Pies weren’t constantly calling time outs.
It’s a lot closer than NZ though. And there is a large Caribbean community in the UK. Then again, she might have been snapped up by another ANZP team. We won’t know until all the team news is out.
Maybe McCollin wants to go back to VNSL? In these Covid times when travel is restricted, UK is much closer to home.
in reply to: SOUTHERN STEEL 2021 #1312504Brilliant news about George Fisher. She’s a great fit for Steel. She turns and shoots, something Steel have been missing in the circle.
