When Romelda arrived back in 2008: She had Tamsin Greenway in the Firebirds Team who basically ‘frog marched’ Romelda out into the community & supported her 1st year to help her acclimatise:

    In answer to Jinxibo:)

My insight knowledge is the Family inside track:

& YES by her own admission her season with Magpies has been below par and her own high standards she sets herself.

HOWEVER 10 days before the start of the SSN season she suffered a prolapsed disc in her lower back (involved injections to stabilise it) and played Rd1 at about 30% capability. 2nd Rd was told not to fly to Sydney for The Giants game due to worry of DVT. Hence the rest of the season she played in compression socks.
It was only by Rd 10 that she started to feel she was playing at 80% as her fitness levels were still playing catch up.

Ironically all the recent lockdowns in Melbourne have made her rest and she is
getting back to 100% fitness with a hunger to prove she isn’t done yet.

Can I add that Geva after finishing SSN had to do a 14 Day Hard Lock down Quarantine back In Melbourne because she had come from QLand. That means for 14 days not allowed out of her apartment and NO exercise nor training allowed. In that time she had 2 visits from authorities checking up on her. Then after the 14 days Melbourne then went into 7 days Soft Lockdown: so allowed out in the fresh air to do max 2 hrs exercise a day.
In order to join the Roses in NZ with NO direct flights allowed to land in NZ from Australia she has had to fly to Singapore 7 hrs then lay over in the quarantine lounge has now joined the English Girls who have flown in from UK to fly back to NZ 9 hrs:) Direct to Christchurch where ALL the girls are in a 14 day HARD lockdown again so No leaving the hotel rooms No exercise No training:)

Baring in mind Geva and The Magpies had 5 different last minute hubs to relocate to during SSN season each time having to quarantine for 3 days on arrival. She has quite literally been living out of her suitcase for 14 weeks during SSN. TOUGH compared to the English based girls. Not sure how ANZ coped with their season.

If Magpies playing 3 games in 7 days is anything to go bye

3rd game for Swift’s will be tough.

Poor Magpies were to say the least flat & exhausted against Fever.

Its been an incredibly tough 18mths taking into account both seasons:)
& I have huge respect 4 those who are trying to organise & wade through the upheaval:

BUT this smacks of something unsavoury for BOTH Magpies & Firebirds:

Im questioning how this Rd 12-Rd 13 will pan out? 1 word INTEGRITY..

Having just got off the phone:)

ALL The Girls are exhausted especially mentally: it’s the not KNOWING
not just day to day but hour to hour full of uncertainty and then upheaval

BUT the mood amongst them is to get the SSN season played out for the good of the sport they ALL love. True professionals ………

    Got to admire their spirit.

Actually according to our Netball Guru: LOL he knows who he is:)
Romelda is still 8 away from her 200th:)

Peace’s total actually got posted last season and a few of us questioned it then:
We came up with it must have included her Uganda National League games & a few UK SuperLeague ones!!!
Which then sent me on a mission to workout the UK SuperLeague years missing from 2002-2011. The reply was the scoresheets are filed away somewhere so safe in the EN system NO one can find them to verify.

I was trying to workout GEVA’s actual total nearly another 86 UK games by my reckoning (with Team Bath & Surrey Storm) but also Jo Harten, Serena Guthrie, Jade Clark there were a load of English Roses whose totals have not been allocated. Then I tried asking for other overseas players like Mwai, Karla, Shamira:
    But have not very far.

Not forgetting the Kiwis, I can’t believe IVD isn’t amongst this 200 club?

Anyone whose is prepared to look back and help me out would be gratefully THANKED.

So how does it work for UK based watchers like myself who used the Netball Live app?
    What are our options now?

Chelsea, Geva & Jo are all Australian Citizens and stayed in Australia for work commitments. None of them could afford to take 6 weeks out from work.
2 weeks to isolate on landing in UK. 2 weeks of playing 4 tests and then 2 weeks to isolate again on returning to Australia, especially with SSN pre season training starting in Feb.

It will be interesting to see how the Jamaicans who play in Australia cope with it as well. They are using the UK tour as a stepping stone to fly onto Australia afterwards. That’s if the test matches even go ahead in Jan. it’s pretty brutal here with COVID .

ONE very good reason not to see some if not all of the SSN Roses:

BURN OUT after the very long prolonged SSN season!!!

Another very good reason a 2nd 14day Quarantine for Geva. It’s tough.
She will then be expected to do another 14 day Q when re-entering Victoria!

That will be a total 6 weeks stuck in a hotel room!!!

NO Geva Loved Lightning & The Sunny Coast

She left because they felt she was ‘getting on’ in age and to start with just offered her 1yr contract but later changed it to 2 years but the damage was done.
Also at the time Geva knew NT was only going to stay for 1 more year.
There were a few other issues which Lightning weren’t prepared to address.

Magpies offered her what she was looking for so that’s why she returned to Melbourne.

If ALL sport is postponed I’m concerned for the IMPORT players who I’m sure would like to be home with their families BUT may not get flights out if/when a total lockdown happens.

I suppose the said could be said of the interstate players as well.
