in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 5 – LIGHTNING v GIANTS #1309102
What a shambles. Are those two umpires new at this level? Both decisions to exclude Manu’a seemed over-reactions to what actually transpired on court.
But…… The Giants took many bad decisions during that last 5 minutes. they had the opportunity to win the game a couple of times. e.g. choosing a “risky” 2 goal shot instead of a more sure one goal shot when they had the following centre pass also.

in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 3 – FIREBIRDS v MAGPIES #1308162Firebirds seem to think they can win games this season without pursuing the supershot. SMH.
in reply to: 2 POINT SHOT! #1308097To remedy the low percentage of Super Shots going in, perhaps next year SSN will introduce a kind of flat surface above and behind the net….
:negative:  B-)
in reply to: 2 POINT SHOT! #1307500YOu can’t argue with the logic. But it is hardly newsworthy that a shot that is worth double has an effect on the outcome of games. It annoyed me on the weekend the commentators gushing in almost surprise that the supershot “came into play”.
in reply to: 2 POINT SHOT! #1307370I do like that one the most accurate proponents of the SuperShot is maintaining her criticism of it when asked. I get the feeling that whoever the commentator was who asked Jo Harten about it expected her to say it was great or that now she loved it.
As for rolling subs, well I have no problem with it. I’ve always felt the necessity for the “Shoelace injury” timeout to replace players was a blight on the game, and certainly has no place in a professional sport.
Tactical timeouts, well, their only purpose has always been revenue based. Stopping the flow of play adds absolutely nothing to the spectacle of any sport.

in reply to: 2 POINT SHOT! #1307271“Non-super shot zone = 14.139m2
Super-shot zone = 23.58m2(Total area of shooting circle is 37.72m2)”
So the more “difficult” Super Shot can actually be taken from 63% (ish) of the circle, whilst the “easy” 1 goal shot is only available from 37% (ish) of the circle.
To me it seems that the other way around would be more fitting to the “reward”.
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 1 – GIANTS v SWIFTS #1307236I am in western Qld.. whilst I have sympathy for my Victorian brothers and sisters, I really do not care about this information right now.
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 1 – GIANTS v SWIFTS #1307234and it is even on the damned App!
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 1 – GIANTS v SWIFTS #1307232Hope not everyone is now looking at the Victorian premier having a news conference! 🙁
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 1 – GIANTS v SWIFTS #1307225The Giants coaching staff’s “uniform”… I feel like I am in some sort of weird trippy flashback to my 1970’s childhood.
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 1 – GIANTS v SWIFTS #1307224“The uniforms of these two teams are too close together. Okay, you can tell a difference, but it’s not enough of a difference for my liking watching on TV.”
Yeah I thought that also. I am having problems telling them apart easily given that channel 9 out here (Imparja) is not HD, and the picture quality sucks anyway.

in reply to: 2 POINT SHOT! #1307209So the non- super shot area is 3 metres in diameter?
in reply to: 2 POINT SHOT! #1307206The Super Shot zone was announced as being bigger than that in the bushfire appeal game.
1.9 m it was said to be.
Can one of our resident maths geeks tell me… at 1.9 metres wide, is the area of the super shot zone less than or more than 50% of the total goal circle area?
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 1 – FIREBIRDS v LIGHTNING #1307109Yeah.. me in 1st qtr when Tippah sank two super shots : “Hmm.. super shot not so bad after all”
At end of 2nd qtr when Lightning claw back a 12 goal deficit with just 5 goals “Stupid Super shot sucks!!”
:negative:
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 1 – FIREBIRDS v LIGHTNING #1307096I am keeping quiet, I do not want to put the mockers on the FB.
Some dubious camera angles engaged so far.. looking at players off the ball (or in the crowd a-la the shots of Gretel) while the action, naturally, is elsewhere.
