Thanks – and sorry to add to the workload!
in reply to: 2023 Fast 5 Netball World Series #1366748Just realised Rhea Dixon is in the Jam squad – does that mean she’s switched allegiance permanently? Big error by EN in that case to let her go.
in reply to: 2024 SSN SIGNING AND TEAM NEWS #1366114Thanks @NB – I think I went word blind!
in reply to: ANPA / NA negotiations break down #1366027“Alexa, please show me the definition of a farce”…..
in reply to: 2024 SSN SIGNING AND TEAM NEWS #1365891Layla Guscoth HAS said she’s taking the season off – being a doctor, getting married AND the WNC has got to have taken its toll.
Did I miss something or is Bakewell Doran not on the list for a reason?
in reply to: 2023 Taini Jamison Trophy – NZ v England (Sep) #1365581That scoreline certainly flatters the Ferns – as an England fan I always hoped they’d win, especially after all the badmouthing from NNZ (where IS the CEO to apologise btw?) but I never hoped for such a convincing display. Joseph showed all the flair and speed she’s demonstrated for years in the NSL, and the defensive backline was showing flashes of brilliance. So much for the “B team” label – it was just what the doctor ordered. And in SDL and Glasgow we have two strong shooters to back up Cardwell and Housby: we like!
in reply to: Silver Ferns Squad for 2023/24 #1365279@TB I seem to remember eight years ago that England sent a young, inexperienced team to a test series and did get roundly beaten – in the same way that Aus sent a young, inexperienced team to play England over here and got beaten as well.
This is the nature of sport – it ebbs and flows. All those selected are in the England programme and are very capable indeed. Maybe stop worrying about the “stars” and start worrying about those on the court….they’re more than able to cause an upset. And how embarrassing would THAT be for NZ….
in reply to: Silver Ferns Squad for 2023/24 #1365271Lordy, this forum is a bag of negative nellies, isn’t it? England HAS to start rebuilding depth in the international arena – we’ve had a host of retirements over the past cycle, and people like Clarke and Pitman aren’t getting any younger. The talent selected for the TJ Trophy is more than capable of competing with the best of them – they’ve been carving it up over the past season in NSL. Just because they aren’t playing in Aus doesn’t mean the selected squad isn’t good enough. It’s about time NZ stopped whining about England’s selection and focused on their own…who was it who came 4th in the NWC again? Pride comes before a fall, after all…..
in reply to: 2023 Taini Jamison Trophy – NZ v England (Sep) #1364935Well said Cookiesnjam – once again England Netball’s communications failings let them all down. At the end of the day, this is a squad of England Roses, albeit not the 12 from NWC. Those players deserve some down time – they’ve earned it. And when do the other squad members get their chance to stake their claim to a starting 7 place otherwise?
What’s disrepectful in my book is the way these players are being demeaned as “also rans”. While I’d have taken Tchine and maybe Fadoju to cement the line up, there’s still plenty of talent here. That NZ fans aren’t paying attention to the line up coming their way says more about their insularity than anything else in my book: UK netball fans might not see Kiwis playing every day, but we sure do appreciate their skills when they step on court.
in reply to: 2023 WORLD CUP DAY 4 #1363198It’s going to be a v nerve wracking rest of the tournament for England fans who only had 3 shooters to begin with
Has there been any word on Imogen Allison’s shoulder injury yet?
You’re telling me Yoon!
in reply to: 2023 Netball World Cup predictions #1362628Group A: Australia, Zimbabwe, Tonga, Fiji
Group B: England, Scotland, Malawi, Barbados
Group C: Jamaica, South Africa, Wales, Sri Lanka
Group D: New Zealand, Uganda, Trinidad and Tobago, Singaporein reply to: 2026 Commonwealth Games in Victoria scrapped #1362334I hope you’re wrong @boogieya – but maybe it’s time to stop making these multisport events such a showcase….go back to basics and make it about the sport, not the entertainment, razzmatazz, celebrity appearances and huge opening ceremonies. Let the sports speak for themselves.
in reply to: 2024 SSN SIGNING AND TEAM NEWS #1362227Geva – as always, pure class. Here’s hoping she’s got a great contract ahead and can continue inspiring players and exciting audiences for years to come.
in reply to: 2023 NSL FINALS WEEKEND #1361019Fran Williams was so good – am not convinced she did enough to get ahead of Funmi as starting GD (or Layla) but what a strong interchange to have.
Well played Loughborough: Vicki Burgess had done her homework. Nat Panagarry was immense, and how fab was it to see Cobden back on court doing her stuff. Hope she recovers well and continues on an upward trajectory!
in reply to: England Roses 2023/24 Squad #1360780Totally agree Monty&Poppy – and interesting to see her respond on social media: she’s usually so quiet and shy. Dreadful way to treat England’s most capped player: no respect at all.
