For some reason the site won’t let me edit my post – my other thinking is that we do have Jade Clarke waiting in the wings – and we all know how effective she can be. So many brilliant centre court options – and don’t forget Nat Panagarry either.

Wowsers, didn’t see that coming. Big congratulations to Serena and her partner! She’ll be a huge loss to the England Roses – and I agree, this probably solidifies Malcolm’s place….

What on earth is going on with Stars? On paper they should be doing so much better than they are – something is definitely up with them!

Ian that was a breeze – thanks so much for setting that up for us!

This’d better just be clickbait. Wallam is the future, as she showed at the weekend – to do this sends all the wrong messages…

RMB, even though I’m double jabbed, I caught it and I can tell you it isn’t “just a cold”!!!! I’ve been utterly wiped out by it – Lord knows how bad it would have been without the vaccines. Don’t believe the nonsense.

@Scotty I think that’s a bit harsh on Jess- yes the meltdown was horrific, and we could probably have done better with other players on the court, but look at it another way – the changes told her how players perform under intense pressure and will have aided her selection choices moving forwards. Better to do it here than in the CWG final. It wasn’t pretty to watch but let’s hope she’s learned and will make the necessary amendments. Well done to England for contesting so closely for so much of the game – and Bueta was simply unstoppable. Marinkovich used her subs really cleverly and Brazill and Hadley were simply unstoppable: it’s the best I’ve seen Hadley ever play. I’m giving the Roses a 7/10 for yesterday’s game, but am not feeling depressed about their performance overall. Let’s face it, they beat NZ again and we now almost expect that to happen: that’a huge step change. And our shooters now regularly shoot at 80-90% – ten years ago, they were in the 40s and 50s!

@montyandpoppy I don’t think we need her – we have Metcalf plus SDL and Laura Malcolm.

    Welcome @shinebright to the forum!

I agree that TN’s comments might have been misconstrued – England may have been missing Geva from the squad but they also had Jade Clarke and Beth Cobden in the stands yesterday and that’s a lot of experience to make up! I actually thought Jamaica’s defence was great, and I’m never convinced by Romelda and Jhaniele playing together. I think you’re right though, that the disconnect in midcourt that we saw at the World Champs was again the problem. Hopefully Connie F is plotting how to get her squad together regularly, under pressure, because some of the stuff they put out on court yesterday showed just how good they can be.

Shame that Sophie Kelly couldn’t make it into the 12 after some superb performances last year, but she’s going to learn heaps training with Peace. Looks like a much more competitive squad to me!

Where’s Fran Williams? Is she the last Wasp? Or is she going somewhere else?

So will Sigi go to Dragons too?

Wasps w/o Candappa AND Flanagan have got some issues methinks – tho at least they have cash to spend on imports. I’m hoping that, as a foundation player, Clarke stays at Leeds as she gave their midcourt some real stability last season, and definitely shone for them.

Didn’t see THAT coming from Candappa – where does that leave Wasps? Wow!
