Weston has the weirdest shoulder pass technique.
I think we need Price in centre.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320372Scoreline is flattering at the moment to Aus. Koenen needs to body up more to make her space clear. Moloney is hesitant on the feed.
Lizzy Watson is an absolute super star
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320351My biggest concern is fatigue. Klau, Bruce, Austin and Moloney all looked tired yesterday in the second half and fell away. I hope the bench is used and we trial a different shooting combination in the second half before Austin’s percentage starts to drop. I feel like Aus learnt from the first game to win the second, and NZ learnt from the second game to win the third. Ball is in Aus/Stacey’s court.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320308The Diamonds post game write up is interesting…pretty much says the loss is because of Diamonds attack and shooters. No mention of defence.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320282That was a great game, and good win by NZ. I think it was worth persisting with some combinations to see how they coped however hopefully we learn from that loss for the final test.
I am unconvinced that Austin is fit enough to be a full game Diamonds GA – amazing in first half then fell away. Klau and Bruce needed to change and I hope Stacey doesn’t develop a blind spot when it comes to Bruce. Moloney faded.
On the other hand – Diamonds first half was great. I think we do have the right starting 7 but need to figure out how to use our bench when it stops working.
Great win by NZ!in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320277Klau and Bruce comprehensively beaten in second half.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320271I want Koenen in GA please!! Austin looks tired she is walking.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320269Australia guilty of being too relaxed on their own centre passes this game. We convert off our gains and then do something silly to lose the ball off our own centre.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320263This game is so exciting/stressful.
Price has been good since she has come on – much safer pair of hands in attack then Weston and we cannot afford to throw away ball. Klau looks a little tired to me.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320245So impressed with Koenen and Austin – for a little while it looked like NZ defence had worked them out, but not so.
Great game so far. Interested to see if Aus make any changes.

in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320231I would have picked Dwan but maybe that is just my Firebird supporter bias. I would also like for Jenner to get a go today and a different shooting circle combo to be tried but ultimately I have been impressed with Marinkovich so far and am willing to trust her judgement and see what happens. I feel like her decisions have been very measured and strategic. It is a nice shake up from LA, who while undoubtedly very good, seemed to get consistently outcoached in critical moments the last few years.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320070Diamonds had a great game but looked tired at the end. Part of me thinks that Charles should have been brought on for some speed, but I also liked giving Watson and Moloney the chance to push through together.
I don’t mind the coaching decisions – she needs to know if Garbin and JLP are the right selection choices or viable bench options and she won’t unless she tries them.
Something tells me Dwan will get picked next game.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1319963Oops I stand corrected (apologies to Jono and new male umpire that looked like him to me). Either way – Australian team could not have gone into this game expecting physicality to be rewarded. Standard NZ umpiring.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1319962I liked the final seven for Australia but think we are missing some spark in defence and I think Austin played well but was costly. I was never a Charles fan but she was great. Would love for Dwan, Proud and Jenner to get a go.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1319960I am an Australian and I don’t think the umpiring was that bad. We were clearly rougher, and NZ were playing off the body in defence which will always attract lower penalties. Yes, Australia had a few unlucky calls but also I thought we were trying to milk for penalties in defence (which just drew umpire eyes to the fact we were contacting) instead of focusing on winning ball. Also Jono has umpired the exact same for years – he is tough on defence but you should know what you are going to get.
