in reply to: 2023 Taini Jamison Trophy – NZ v England (Sep) #1365298
Terrible that I’m a Kiwi and am asking this – has England arrived here yet?
in reply to: 2024 SSN SIGNING AND TEAM NEWS #1365250Code has also indicated that Pretorius will miss out for SCL this signing.
in reply to: 2024 NETBALL SUPER LEAGUE #1365236@netballgirl – She can apply for a partner visa but they will need to meet the requirements. It’s also costly. My son, partner and grandson have been tied up in the pay a fortune for citizenship (I think) and jump through hoops, including costly medicals as well, only to be granted it less than 24hrs before the rules were changed and costs significantly reduced.
Whether she played in England or not this was always going to be the case once she left Australia.
I had assumed being let go was by mutual decision, or that she was on a one year contract which never guarantees a second season. With surgery on both knees it was to be expected really.
At the moment she remains in South Africa. He’s gone back to Australia.in reply to: 2024 SSN SIGNING AND TEAM NEWS #1365181@Ian. Would love to contribute but the cost of using two different sports channels meant I missed the SSN this year.

in reply to: 2024 SSN SIGNING AND TEAM NEWS #1364976@McNiffy1703 – Actual signing can not commence until the CPA is signed. At the moment it’s all verbal offers but until the agreement is settled, with payment terms and amounts, nothing can be put down on paper.
in reply to: 2023 Taini Jamison Trophy – NZ v England (Sep) #1364957Disappointing but not totally surprising. The SSN players from the World Cup were never coming, heck during covid they didn’t come through to NZ from Australia. Best to look at these games like the cream of those in the English Domestic vs the best NZ can field from their competition. I’d be wary of thinking the Ferns will take this series and it’s the best chance Netball NZ is going to get to see the players the Ferns will most likely face in the next Commonwealth Games and Workd Cup.
The disappointing part is the fact that England Netball was not open about their planned rest period to Netball NZ. Perhaps given the Jamaica debacle NZ should have had the foresight to ask – let’s hope that now they’ve been bitten twice they ask next time.in reply to: Taini Jamison 2023 #1364895Add to that article that Wylie said that they had contacted World Netball regarding the England decision.
in reply to: 2024 SSN SIGNING AND TEAM NEWS #1364837Interesting reading all the comments on here, which are clearly out in public domain, being in NZ I can’t always find or read the gossip 🙂
Sounds like mass transfers – players not wanting to move because of partners/homes in certain areas might have no choice if they still want to play SSN and with the demise of Collingwood it appears that there are more ‘import’ players coming in than using the ex Collingwood ones, leaving quite a few players from both Collingwood and other times without proposed contracts for the near future.

in reply to: Silver Ferns Squad for 2023/24 #1364728Heffernan and Nweke are still overseas, as us Watson. Not sure if Jury is back yet. I gather full on training resumes this coming week so would expect them to return if they are playing in this first series.
For the Roses I doubt we will see most of the SSN players given they went straight from Australia to World Cup.
in reply to: Silver Ferns Squad for 2023/24 #1364671The squad is for the rest of this year and the beginning of next. I’ve selected twelve, I opted to go with 5 defenders. It was pretty clear in the World Cup that both Burger and Karaka were exhausted having to cover for Watson so much, particularly with Jury out at WD.
I think Walmsley is in the squad as a back up in case of further injury and to see what it’s about/what she’s going to need to do/prepare her for the future/see if she’s got it. She’s nowhere near mentally tough enough at the moment (think Nweke in her first year) to be able to handle the man on style and she’s definitely going to have to work on core strength if she wants to stay on her feet on court.in reply to: Silver Ferns Squad for 2023/24 #1364665@silverferns1 – My predictions, no Nweke or Watson (injuries). No Heffernan
Shooters – Wilson, Metuarau, Ekenasio,
MidCourt – Gordon, Souness, Toeava, Reuelu Buchanan
Defence – Jury, Burger, Karaka, Burley, Lokotui (Lokotui, Karaka and Burley to split WD between them) -
