in reply to: Iso activity – Pick the 2022 Comm Games Teams #1309590
Actually I think Austin over Garbin but I wouldn’t be surprised to see either really stamp all over their selection… and Wood would be the one to go if I’m honest or injury could put her out. She seems to fight to niggles a lot…
in reply to: Iso activity – Pick the 2022 Comm Games Teams #1309588I’ll just do an Aus as I’ll get stuff wrong elsewhere!
Shooters: I think Bassett will retire so I predict
Bueta, Koenan, Wood, GarbinMid court: Watson, Browne, JLP and Parmenter (she’ll make it!)
Defence: Bruce, Weston, Klau and Turner although maybe Jenner for Turner?

Thunderbirdsin reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 6 – FEVER v FIREBIRDS #1309352Well I’m not in complete agreement of that lineup but I feel like poor Fowler needs a break. I’ve never seen her make unforced errors like she did today. You can say “defensive pressure” all you like but I think the poor lady just needs a rest and some rotation!
Can we have Donelle Wallam flown out please so rotate on and spice up the game with her basketball moves please? She’s exactly what we need. Every single game, every single play is the same aim. Get the ball to Fowler. We need new plays and an exciting Ga, yes (or a GA not having to play WA too…!!), but we also need a second option to mix things up when another team has the read on the game plan….
I feel like Marinkovich gave great direction to her team today in timeouts but they didn’t listen. But I also think she hasn’t listened to others either over the course of the last few years and decisions may be biting her in the butt….Maybe she’s the change that’s needed….?
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 6 – SWIFTS v MAGPIES #1309351Her usual position is WA yes? We could use her over at Fever so our GAs can focus on being GAs….

Lightning by 2in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 5 – LIGHTNING v GIANTS #1309241Thank you for this clarification. I’ve heard commentators explaining the send off rule as best they could but I haven’t heard this mentioned at all. I think this information should be being discussed as widely as the rest! So she had been given a warning verbally? And then after that, the Koenen post incident happened and she was sent off?
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 5 – LIGHTNING v GIANTS #1309238So, even after reading all of these very useful comments I still am a little unclear on something.
I thought the process was:
Rough or repeated play = a caution
Rough of repeated play again = “that’s now a warning”
Rough or repeated play a third time= send off for two minutesIs the above process correct? And did it happen with Kristina?

in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 2 – LIGHTNING v MAGPIES #1307815In the vixens game, the commentators were talking about really obvious game plans. So the obvious one for vixens is to shut down Liz Watson. But they said that no matter what, no one can shut her down! I feel like with lightning, the obvious game plan is to capitalise on the fact that lightning have a slower start and yet it’s the same, no one seems to be able to keep back the fire once they’re down! How to do it, how to do it???

Fever by 3in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 1 – THUNDERBIRDS v FEVER #1307192I saw on Facebook a few comments about the super shot in regards to the lightning win. Saying that they would have won anyway. But it’s hard to know really because chasing a score using super shots and being on a roll is different to the hard slog you need to do to chase from behind in traditional netball. Who knows, the firebirds may have felt the chase differently and responded better? It’s hard to respond to super shots when your misses can set you back four points if your opposition is accurate… One defensive rebound and you’re behind by four in your quest!
