Not much of a surprise considering she moved out of Wellington. If she signed with the Magic, a fit Rore/Mikaere/Fakahokotau backline could be very versatile, with the first two able to play all three defensive positions.

Also marks the end of an era for the Pulse, with Rore riding the downs and ups for the franchise.

Thought the Magic were going to lose as soon as Kara came off for those few minutes, and also when the umpires told Faka/Mikaere to “come off the body” (stop defending)!

I wonder who will meet the SF fitness standards though. I heard the Mystics and Tactix have implemented them, and the Stars and Steel seem very fit, but not sure about the Pulse or Magic.

With Sydney, Brisbane and Perth currently in lockdown, I don’t see how this weekend’s game can go ahead unless they hub in VIC (and are granted exemptions to do so).

Yeah I think Metcalfe can improve but needs more time – recruitment and injury has been their biggest issues this year. I also think Parata cops too much flack on here – losing three starting players plus two quality benchies means this season was also going to be tough ask.

Great coaches are hard to find – I think Bloxham and Wills are the best coaches in the league by far.

I think the Magic have struggled as they’ve had key players underperform due to injury (Bassett, Kara), lack of conditioning (Fakahokotau, Semple) and I think they are short one gun defender (which would have been Fowler). I don’t think Bassett will stay another year in NZ, I think they’d be better off getting Potgeiter (who is not setting the world in fire in the SSN this year) and Falkner back.
