Well technically Jok fills the criteria that has been set out… this is a professional league and the team has chosen the best player for them that meets above criteria. Maybe the criteria should have been altered?

Maybe Jok has aspirations to be a Diamond. Players migrate and find new homes. I don’t think it’s out of question.

Having Gina play WA in the SSN would be amazing for NZ given WA is their biggest problem atm

Catching up on games this morning.

I think Australia is far ahead of all nations. Possibly Jamaica closest to them. Australia have skill and experience and it is their time. However, not sure if they have a contingency plan when the likes of Bruce, Weston, Klau, Watson, Hadley.

England have the goods but something about lack of discipline or playing heir final too early. I think they can go toe to toe with Aus on a good day… but sometimes the attack is lazy particularly Cardwell and Metcalf. Very casual stile of play and they all just appear to be watching the ball.

Nz has a way to go but I think they could be a real threat in the next 2-3 years. I think DNT is the best coach in NZ, but maybe some fresh ideas are needed. I think we are developing and bringing in the next generation and that Will pay off.
It’s nice to see some serious competition for that GA bib after Meels – with Amo, Tiana and Georgia all competing. Blooding Amo and Georgia was great this series because it will push all three of them to improve and fight for that spot. Mid court similarly – nice to see Souness and MRB have nice moments, with Souness really showing her experience and flair. Earle and Gordon vying for that other mid court spot. Quite disappointed with defence. Karaka is not upto speed and apart from Stythe (Mystics) , not sure who is raising their hands for opportunities.

I’m not a huge fan of the club combinations. I think they will be entertaining but doesn’t bode well for SF. I’d have liked to see Amo at Mystics, maybe Karin coming back to play with Jury. I think back to how beneficial climb combinations have been for the like likes of McMahon/Cox, Medhurst/Basset, Tuitaia/Van Dyke, Wood/Basset, and now Austin/Garbin. Feel like NNZ should be help nudge players in certain directions to better help the ferns.

Amazing game to watch! The changes made by both coaches are dynamic and keep the game very interesting. First time in a long time have I see the NZ bench used well

I am so glad Noel’s left the 7 on court to play the whole game. It is so important to let these players ride it all out and build on combinations even when they get tired. I hope to see the same starting seven next game to back it up.

Also, big ups to MRB. She’s been one of my favourite players since the NWYC and her hunger and passion on court is so evident. Few turnovers towards the end but still a young player whom will learn from this.

I don’t think we should rule out Maia just yet – she’s a powerhouse and such a talent. Hope she gets some solid feedback to implement if/when she is needed.

Wonder if the SSN expanded and included one or two NZ based teams. Like the warriors, but the from Auckland and maybe Christchurch. Mainly NZ players, but unlimited internationals allowed.

And ANZP continues in the background to help promote and develop talent to feed it. It will give players in ANZP to also want to be at the level to be chosen to play in SSN…

Don’t know if the above makes any sense at all. lol

I have also been very disappointed with NZ’s performance at the NWC and haven’t mustered the spirit to watch the Bronze medal match. I think a thorough review needs to happen to see where the NZ netball system is lacking.

In my opinion, selections were appropriate and the strongest team was heralded. I think there’s a few factors that have all equally contributed to our poor performance. I do agree that there has been too much rotation in the last 4 years – players are not able to develop connections in the Fern’s environment and there’s no stability. Selectors need to step up and identify talent through trials/ANZP, rather than use valuable and limited International tests during the 4 year cycle as trials. There needs to be an improvement in culture for winning games outside the peak events because the talent is definitely there, but needs to be reviewed.

We need strong NZ players playing in the SSN. ANZP can still remain a strong and competitive league with some of our top players playing in SSN week in/week out. Jamaica and England have key players in the SSN league that come back to their national team and bring that intensity, fitness, and elevated level to the next generation. It’s very egotistical for NNZ to think they have a good enough league after the results we have had in recent years.

I do think Noeline brings something special to the Fern’s but I think our players have lost some of their natural flair and instinct. I really look forward to the growth we show in the next cycle, because we definitely have the players to win the NWC but the pathways/processes are not working at the moment.

Swifts have just announced that Kelea Iongi signing on with Pulse. Would be good to see her at GK and Jury pushed to GD.

Wow, what a game. I was scared it was going to be a blowout at half time, but the swifts were so relentless.

The best SSN GF we’ve had and the best finals series too.

I was sooo impressed with Petty, she’s a great club player. Also so good to see all the SA talent on court – Turner, Proud and Klau all playing very well too. Paige Hadley had amazing leadership in those moments but the defensive pressure from the whole TBirds team made the difference I think

Two weeks in a row, you have a young Australian rising up to the moment – this probably counters a few of the haters who think there are too many international shooters in the competition; just highlights how having good players lift the competition for everyone.

Would be great to see Winders picked up by an SSN team. Might be just what she needs to revitalise her SF chances.

Lightning and the new SSN team (replace Braz) could be potential avenues

For a side that’s been playing together for a decent period of time – the Fever do not know how to close out games.

Also, nice to see Ervin and Black rewarded for strong performances. Not enough room next year for Ervin, Dehaney, Hinchcliffe and Pretorius.
