in reply to: 2024 ANZP GRAND FINAL – PULSE v MYSTICS #1377666
No penalty in that final shot for Walmsley. She did land awkwardly tho, so maybe that contributed to the missed goal. That was certainly a game winning rebound from Stythe tho!
in reply to: 2024 ANZP ROUND 15 #1376760Tactix on a bit of a roll. Burger has entered the chat finally. Poi maybe a little too quick for her own good at times. Extremely physical 3rd quarter there! Just how I like it haha.
in reply to: 2024 ANZP ROUND 15 #1376719Tonight is the biggest game of the season so far! Pulse vs Tactix to determine who hosts the grand final or the preliminary final. I can’t wait! I think the team that keeps one of their GS on all game will win. I don’t think the swap at half time has been working for either Tactix or Pulse. May the best team win.
in reply to: 2024 ANZP ROUND 12 #1375329It’s a good wake up call for Tactix going forward. They’re pretty safe on the table.
I’m hoping for a Tactix Pulse final. A change up will be nice. Tactix for the title!
in reply to: Silver Ferns WC squad predictions #1360054Interesting thoughts on 3 shooters. That would make Souness the WA/C/GA option. There for making the team because she wasn’t in my team. From memory she was very much like Grace Rassmusen in GA. Speedy and carved the front of the circle well. However, would Noeline do it? Stranger things have happened I guess. That allows Crampton, Toeava, Souness, Heffernen and Gordan into the frame. That’s a stunning midcourt IMO.
Defence and shooters are sorted I think. Drop Maia and keep Ekenasio, Nweke and TP.
in reply to: 2023 ANZP ROUND 2 #1355282Dunn had a bad couple of quarters that’s all. Its definitely fixable and seeing it against Mystics defence has to be a good thing. She made a good choice moving out of her comfort zone I think. Pulse defence will be just as crazy so this will be good for her development as a player.
Great game I have to say overall.
in reply to: 2022 Commonwealth Games – Day 4 (Aug 1) #1348341Just watched the Malawi vs NZ game.
I think they’re building into their game plan nicely. Not as polished as Australia. But good stats and low turnovers is all we can ask for. After seeing the updates and scores earlier today I was relieved. Slightly nervous checking the final score, thought Malawi might get their tails up again. Luckily that wasn’t the case, infact we won all 4 quarters which is great.
Karaka, Saunders, Johnson, Sulu and Mes are weaknesses. Didn’t do anything spectacular, which is fine. But they have to pull finger against T&T. We need them to step up big time, going into the England game.
I’d like to see the moving circle feature tomorrow morning. Haven’t really seen it yet with success. I’m think Maia and TP could be it. Definitely not Mes, she can stay in WA IMO.
Jury, Nweke, Heffernen, Crampton, Souness excellent on attack. Souness needs to perfect her feeds. You can’t lob on the circle edge and miss your target. She did it twice with Nweke and Maia. We can’t afford from now on.
Otherwise good hit out, on to the next game. More improvement would be the doctors order.
in reply to: NZ Comm Games Team #1346857I was kinda leaning towards Eke making the team over Grace. But I trust Noels to know what she’s doing. I know when Eke returns its going to be a fierce World Cup. Especially with Jane and Burger back!
But we do have Grace Nweke in the team now. Moving and holding game plan at hand. Massive rebounder and scorer in our arsenal. Bring on the Cadbury series.
Wow Sammy to Steel!
in reply to: NZ Comm Games Team #1346681Yeah I suppose I exaggerated that part. Men beat them by 4 and then 12 in the final.
But when you compare that Cadbury series, Fiji, Mens and NZA. This one is by far more competitive.
in reply to: NZ Comm Games Team #1346596These teams were formed to really challenge the Silverferns. They weren’t put together so the Silverferns could thrash them and gloat about it. The mistakes and losses will be good for them going into CWGs. The media and nay sayers can say what they want. The men beat the crap out of the World Cup team. Its exactly the type of lead up this team needs.
in reply to: NZ Comm Games Team #1346381Well that leaves me with more confidence in this selected team after watching Noels lay down the thinking behind it. It’s quite brilliant when so many spine players are out this round. It was either choose the best individuals, or choose the best team for her vision.
As Noels was talking about accuracy and volume 40+. I couldn’t help but to think about Dunn. I’m glad she is working on herself and gunning for the World Cup team. I believe she will be our wild card up the sleeve when fully fit.
Defensively I can see why Manu’a wasn’t selected based on the importance of the zone. She’s such a great man on man player. She really rattled the GAs of NZ.
Roll on Cadbury series. Let’s see some tight competition to really prep our girls for Birmingham.
in reply to: NZ Comm Games Team #1346272I love the potential switch ups during a game. The entire flow looks like it can change with the players they have.
I’m sad not to see Gordan, Poi and Kristiana even make reserves. But equally shocked not to see Metuarau not make the team. I see Noels is going with experience with the lack of experience out already.
I have faith we will medal, just not sure which colour. Love our defence end. I think this is the best we could possibly choose.
But fitness, fitness and fitness is the key to cracking the Silverferns. It’s comforting to know all these girls made the standard. Keeping the faith.
in reply to: Silver Ferns trialists #1345752Someone mentioned Crampton, Saunders, Poi and Gordan. I love this combo. Poi connects so well with the Ferns attackers. She understands Maia and where she wants the ball. Gordan is just explosive and attacks so well. Crampton and Saunders are the experience needed.
Shooters Maia, Mes, Tiana and TP. If TP isn’t fit enough, Nweke. I don’t think Eke is going to make it in time. We have to continue with the moving circle. It’s doing the hard yards for one goal, but with a excellent attacking plan we have shown it can work.
Defenders Jury and Kristiana are hands down starters. The combination and communication is too strong after one season together. I’m not sure if Noels will like the one on one style they use. Because it rattled every GA in our comp. None of them were ready for that, except maybe Magic with their experienced shooters. Then add in Karaka and Temu. Karaka will is a great GK, just hasn’t had the chance recently to show that. Maybe once or twice this year. Her versatility will be valued and her random pickups she always manages to get. Her combo with Sulu has gone sour. So I’m not counting her performances with Sulu. Temu well she has been nothing but outstanding. No international experience at all, but has x factor just waiting to be exposed.
