Don’t forget Salote Fifita. She’s a born and bred Otago girl and sister of Losa Fifita. Short stint with Steel last year and a national Tongan rep.

The thing with Netball SA is that even when they chose a local coach, it wasn’t the best coach in the country. Dorette coached a team in their domestic competition which never made Top 3. This says a lot.

@Bluebird I see many people mention that England’s best WA defected to Scotland but let’s not forget, Sasha Corbin still exists.

She had an amazing season with Mavericks but then they fell short of finals.

Maybe time to tap on Sasha Corbin for a return. Majority of the English mid court were hesitant to throw that ball into Cardwell. Time to retest someone like Corbin who’s not afraid to lob those high balls.

@Maryann could you further explain what you mean by:

“Toeava – tbh I wouldn’t be surprised to find she doesn’t have a passport”

@mcleod that is very harsh of you. Your comment speaks privilege.

You do realise that the Sunshine Girls aren’t being paid like the Silver Ferns.

Also, Fowler and Sterling ‘have to’ attend their university lectures (as instructed by their University – they got no choice).

We always talk about blooding the young ones, Jamaica just did that ??‍♀️

The rules with the VNSL is that if a player was born in the UK or have a parent/grandparent born in the UK or holds British Citizenship, you are not counted as an import.

Bird does not count as an import because her Mum’s an English born.

McDonald does not count as an import because she was born in the UK.

The imports for the Rhino’s are the two recently signed South Africans.

So that’s 3 imports for the Mavericks. I’m really curious if Mather holds some sort British citizenship or whether one of her parents/grandparents was born in the UK.

Also, I watched the SA-Jamaica game and noticed that Jamaica were setting up a box defence and doing proper drives and cuts. This signals Rob Wright’s influence…could be dangerous for the Top 3 teams

I watched the Uganda-NZ match and I observed something special with Uganda. Their patience to throw as many passes and still work their way to the shooting circle is what got them close to the Ferns scoreline. Also, someone mentioned the NZ defenders being clueless at times. I noticed the Uganda GA loves milking penalties which worked in her favour yesterday.

I wont be surprised if Palavi gets snatched up by one of the VNSL teams. She’s got so much potential and is not afraid to go to post.

Cullen is not Samoan. She’s of Cook Islander descent. Now imagine a Cook Islands lineup of Samason, Metuarau, Cullen, RMB…crazy right.

Toeava, Ioane, Vui, Manu’a, Savienea could all lineup for Samoa….just a thought.

Fiji should’ve asked Pedersen (Fijian dad) if she wanted to play for them. Their mid court was just not structured and outplayed.

Also, how the hell does Veve not have a SSN contract. She deserves a starting spot somewhere after last nights performance

The GS for Tonga is a Victorian State pathway player. She plays for the Falcons and is a potential feeder GS for any SSN Victoria team. Wouldn’t be surprised if she gets the call up to either the Vixens or Magpies in the future.

Tonga also has 4/5 training partners/players of different ANZ Premiership/SSN teams

I would’ve chosen Funmi Fadoju as Cobdens replacement. Very versatile player who knows how to read for intercepts.

Let’s not forget, Tonga could pull in Cat Tuivaiti (Tongan father) if they ever qualify for next year’s World Cup (there have been rumours)
