Have you guys seen the lineup for each team for this upcoming series. Samoa have the likes of Saviour Tui, Eseta Autagavaia, Ainsleyanna Puleata and Hannah Ridling (former Magic player and training partner). Tonga have secured Hulita Veve and Claire Iongi (Giants training partner in 2020). I was hoping Fiji would’ve tapped into Erikana Pedersen (Fijian father) and persuaded her to play for Fiji but that would be a dream.

I think the Cardwell to Tbirds rumour is becoming true each day. Just as she announced her departure from Thunder, the Tbirds insta mentioned that they have a player announcement coming soon but at the same time acknowledged that they resigned 5 of their players from this season. Its all adding up ??‍♂️

At this point, TBirds need Cardwell. I can’t see a lineup of Austin and Dwan/Horjus lasting the whole season. Tbirds need an experienced shooter who can shoot from range as well as play GA to give Austin court time.

I second that Netballfan1. I think Tiana being hesitant on the shot could also play a part in her not being selected. When she first made her debut back in the start of ANZ Premiership, she was very confident with sinking those long shots. Now she seems to be very hesitant taking those long shots as seen during the Quad Series and the England test match. Still does not take away from her court craft.

I think Mes and TPSR really pulling through for their respective sides shooting lineup this season mightve also played a part in their selection.

I think basing everything on fitness is not a good measure towards the Ferbs selection. I’m just curious how would someone with a body type like Cardwell or Thwaites fair under Tauruas eyes. Cardwell is not the fittest but she still takes those crucial shots during pressured moments and even gets intercepts when needed. She definitely got the skill but had she been a Kiwi, would Taurua actually take her? Maybe not due to her fitness? These are things I question will all this fitness requirements. Im pretty sure Maia had to lose all that weight over the yrs to achieve the fitness test and I can guarantee it wasn’t something that easy considering her body type. Does the fitness test go that far?

              Just really curious….?

I have to agree Broadbend re Christian. She was the next best WA after Metcalf but couldn’t wait any longer for the England call up, hence why she went to play for Scotland. I think Parsons has had her time but just not quite there yet internationally. Joseph on the hand needs court time and Jess hasn’t given her much international experience. Scholes and Grierson are two amazing WAs that should be part of the England set up. Both have amazing potential if shown the right direction.

I don’t know if its just me but I kinda knew Potgieter was going to be dropped. She’s the only starting GS in the SSN that doesn’t take the 2 point shot. She would suit the traditional game as seen in ANZP or VNSL. Who knows, might go back to Team Bath or join Shadine at Thunder.

I think the Tbirds need a shooter who can hold well, shoot from any distance and play GA…Cardwell is the only name that comes to mind. TBurds should throw all their money at her. She would be lethal with her hold and sinking all those 2 point shots.

So I managed to take a dig on Cardwells life and she just settled with her partner. They bought their first home 6 months ago. I think this solves the reason as to why she doesn’t wanna sign any SSN contract

@netballgirl I think Mary Cholhok would be a great pickup for Tbirds but Ellie Cardwell would be an even greater pickup. She can shoot from distance (advantage for 2 pointers), strong hold and can even play GA. I think they should drop Potgieter & McDonald. Dwan on the other hand is a 50/50 for me but I think she has done and can do wonders when on fire. Also noting, Tbirds don’t do great when there’s so many changes so I think dropping only two players wouldnt make a difference to their whole squad.

                      Tbirds Dream Team for 2022
                      Cardwell
                      Austin
                      Dwan
                      Horjus
                      Williams
                      Nankevill
                      Petty
                      Garrett
                      Wilson
                      Sterling

Sterling & Wilson must feel very disappointed during this game after the effort they put in. Making too much changes has never worked for the Tbirds. However, I think dropping Tania Obst would be a good move. Her coaching decisions have cost the Tbirds to an extent.

I know Tbirds have signed so many imports over the years but I would like to see them sign Cardwell. A good player who knows how to hold strongly and can shoot from range too. Potgieter has lost her long range shooting and needs to re-adjust herself to get closer to the post which is costing the Tbirds.

Nah I’ll leave Nweke out. One of the many reasons she is good in the ANZ is simply because Toeava is feeding her. I don’t think Toeava will make Ferns squad so who would feed her perfectly then? I know Saunders has fed Fowler in the past but during the Nwekes international stint, the feeds to her were a 50/50. Add to the fact that Nweke rarely shoots from distance and that would be a big problem on the international stage.

I maybe wrong but I think Sophie Fawns becomes the first Asian Australian (Asian Mom) to play at the SSN. And what a debut!!! Deserves a contract.

Thank goodness Claire Iongi played in the Pacific Series last week for Tonga and she was phenomenal. I think she would step up for the Giants defence this week.

Just curious whether Jazz Scott counts as an import for Pulse or does she have any NZ links. Jazz is a former Team Bath player and went through the English netball pathway system. Great to see her back playing at elite level.
