What on earth is going on with the Sunshine Coast Lightning head coaching role ? When they sacked Kylee Burns I assumed they had someone on the hook ready to announce almost immediately. Yet one month later and that club is still coach-less !? They’re already way behind the rest of the competition as far as next season goes and when you’re coming off a wooden spoon, this situation is even less than ideal.
in reply to: 2022 SSN ROUND 2 #1339230Hard to see where the Lightning win a game this season.. some big decisions looming for this club over the next six months.
in reply to: 2022 SSN rumoured signings/speculation #1333140The Firebirds’ list management has been appalling for a number of years.. They don’t appear to have any idea what winning looks like.
in reply to: 2022 SSN rumoured signings/speculation #1331716Do we know who is off contract as of now? Also, how far in advance was the recent pay TV deal & salary cap increase public knowledge?
I would’ve thought a lot of players would’ve aimed to ensure they came off contract for 2022 IF that new TV deal & cap increase was common knowledge well in advance of it happening
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1315887Looks like Langman has retired according to her instagram
in reply to: 2020 SSN GRAND FINAL – VIXENS v FEVER #1315234Yep, reckon they should bring in a rule that only one player is allowed to retrieve it and throw it back to the centre circle.
in reply to: 2020 SSN GRAND FINAL – VIXENS v FEVER #1315225Why do players fight for the ball after it has gone through the net for a goal ? It’s a waste of energy at best and an injury waiting to happen at worst..
in reply to: 2020 SSN MAJOR SEMI FINAL – VIXENS v LIGHTNING #1313877Well this is going entirely as I expected
in reply to: 2020 SSN MAJOR SEMI FINAL – VIXENS v LIGHTNING #1313823Nothing I’ve seen from the Lightning this year suggests they’ll beat the Vixens in this one..
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 14 – LIGHTNING v VIXENS #1313480Stick a fork in the Lightning if you hadn’t already, they’re not winning a third title this year.. today was d-day for them in my opinion.. they had to beat the vixens or at the very least run them extremely close to give themselves some self belief to take into the finals.. the Lightning had a week and a half to prepare for that game and the vixens basically just came out and held them at arms length all afternoon..
The Lightning have no answers for the vixens
in reply to: Liz Ellis: The Mi Mi debacle can’t happen again #1313479^ Absolutely it does – it lays bare the disconnect that clearly exists between junior indigenous player development & the senior ranks of the sport in Australia
I find it staggering that nobody did a risk assessment when the idea to run an indigenous round in the SSN was first proposed
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 14 – LIGHTNING v VIXENS #1313406Vixens resting a couple today? I note the Lightning are favourites..
in reply to: Liz Ellis: The Mi Mi debacle can’t happen again #1313403The Firebirds have been completely thrown under the bus on this. They’re an elite netball club, playing in the pinnacle competition for the sport in this country. Their primary job is to put the best team on the court and win matches in the Suncorp Super Netball.
Netball Australia should be feeling rather embarrassed at the moment because what happened in that Firebirds match last weekend exposed a glaring problem for which the bulk of responsibility rests with them as the sport’s governing body.
How could any sport not feel completely embarrassed and exposed when an ‘indigenous round’ of their showpiece competition highlights the fact that there is only ONE indigenous player in that competition? This is Netball Australia’s problem to fix, because the problem here is the lack of indigenous girls playing in their top tier competition. Why and how is this the case?
Clearly there is a disconnect somewhere between the junior ranks of netball, where indigenous girls are reasonably well represented, to the elite level, where there is currently only one player.
Netball Australia should’ve been on the front foot this week, publicly taking responsibility for this and deflecting the focus from the Firebirds.
Hopefully questions are being asked at Netball Australia now and plans are being put together as to how they can fix this glaring problem. The first goal of this plan should be an indigenous round in 2030 where numerous indigenous players are battling it out on the court trying to get a victory for their teams

in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 12 – LIGHTNING v FIREBIRDS #1312201Bit of inexperience has cost the Firebirds today.. they’ve got a good young squad to work with though..
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 12 – LIGHTNING v FIREBIRDS #1312178Between Dwan, Austin, Tippett & Wood, the Diamonds are going to be very well stocked in the GA department for some time to come..
And I’ve probably missed someone ?
