The confidence in this rookie Dwan is incredible.. she looks like she’s been playing at this level for a decade

in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 11 – LIGHTNING v FEVER #1311553This is horrendous from the Lightning
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 11 – LIGHTNING v FEVER #1311543Lightning having to work so much harder to get anything
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 11 – LIGHTNING v FEVER #1311525Couple more turnovers and this game could be lights out
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 11 – SWIFTS v VIXENS #1311496Thanks Tully.. think she’d be a good recruit for the Lightning to replace Peace (given Fowler is tied to the Fever for 2021).
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 11 – SWIFTS v VIXENS #1311483Anyone aware of Kumwenda’s contractual status with the Vixens ?
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 10 – VIXENS v FEVER #1311037Fever scared to win this
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 8 – FEVER v LIGHTNING #1310445As I’ve said elsewhere, thought the Lightning had squeezed the lemon dry with this squad at the end of last season and needed to re-tool.. they just don’t have the class they used to in a couple of key areas and like others have pointed out, depth is being exposed in this condensed format
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 7 – SWIFTS v LIGHTNING #1310128Meant to add to my post above but couldn’t edit – how high do you think Koenen’s ceiling will be? How good can she get ?
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 7 – SWIFTS v LIGHTNING #1310120I’d still have Thwaites in there ahead of Koenen as far as the Diamonds go if she hadn’t retired from international netball.. Sure Koenen might be in your top two or three GS options for the Diamonds right now but to me that’s more representative of a weakness in that position in Australia at the moment as much as than anything..
You sort of confirm what I’m saying re the Lightning’s situation – yes Fowler would be the dominant GS if you brought her in but are you trying to win competitions now or hope that someone might be good enough to be the player you need in the near future ?
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 7 – SWIFTS v LIGHTNING #1310104^ Yeah I don’t mean getting someone like Fowler in and letting Koenen go, I mean getting her in as a straight replacement for Peace Prozcovia next year.. As you point out and as we’ve all seen so far this season, Koenen is improving with every opportunity she gets.. I’m just not sure she’s going to become the elite level goal shooter the Lightning needs her to become right now if they’re to challenge for another title in the next couple of years. For mine, she’s still very much a work in progress, physically and mentally.. Her skills are getting better but I think physically she’s a bit in ‘no man’s land’ at the moment – not quite tall enough and not physically imposing enough.
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 7 – SWIFTS v LIGHTNING #1309996Not a surprising result despite the Swifts starting this season a little below where they left off last year.. the Lightning for mine are a notch below the very best sides this season.. They’re still a good side that’ll make the finals but I really thought they’d squeezed the lemon dry with this roster at the end of last season and what I’ve seen this season has reinforced that belief.. the scoring end is the major area where I think they need a boost. Peace Proscovia is a wonderful story but the Lightning needs to look elsewhere next season if they want to win more premierships.. Cara Konen is an improving player but I don’t think you’re going to win a title with her and Steph Wood carrying the bulk of the responsibility up there.. Jhaniele Fowler would be a good recruit imo and solve a couple of their problems, especially getting the ball into the circle, which has been an big problem for them at times in all of their games this season.. like a tennis player needs a big first serve, the Lightning needs a big robust target in the shooting circle
