Kierra Trompf says Romelda can only train for an hour a week! I know she’s playing brilliantly, but is that safe?

Ben Homer is commentating again 😭

This should be a ripper game. Very interested to see if Fretwell plays any minutes in GA.

I thought MJ played well so not quite sure why she’s off- I suppose Fever are preparing this combination for when Jhaniele comes back. Absolute chaos in attack and not quite enough impact in defence. Firebirds are performing super well though, credit to them- looking slick and well-connected, and the feeds to Cholhok are stellar.

Omg Kerryn he called her ‘the former Mystics coach’ AGAIN. (And finally got corrected).

Have to wonder if Wilkinson is fully fit- lots of strapping on her thigh, Dan asking if she’s ok to keep playing, and Fever bringing Sloan Burton (shooting TP) to Queensland. Not an excuse for Fever’s performance obviously, but interesting to think about.

Team cards on Fox say the FBs coach is Katie Walker… seriously, does anybody check these things?

Some thoughts from the first two games: high penalty counts across the board, looks like players might be struggling to adjust back into the proper season. Looks like super shot accuracy might be steadily improving too.

Thunderbirds: their entire starting lineup were excellent, I couldn’t pick a highlight. And now they’ve got the license to shoot long? They’ll be hard to beat. Not much else to say about them!

Vixens: Caris was very good in her first game, more disruption and impact than Ellis could provide. Eddy is also in amazing form, as many others have pointed out. Graham was great, but sometimes got stuck running up and down the baseline without actually being an option. Austin needs to stop pleading to the umpires.

Lightning: Reynolds can’t seriously expect us to think Fretwell spending 60 minutes in GS is purely tactical, can she? Obviously Steph is nearing the end of her incredible career and we all know she’s had some knee problems, but it’s great to see her out there as Lightning clearly need her- I’m surprised the club didn’t acknowledge that, but they’re not really known for being forthcoming. Batcheldor had an excellent game, shooting the bulk of the goals while running out in GA. Disappointing to see whatever is happening to Koenen’s form, and I’m concerned about Hinchliffe becoming increasingly penalised after a decently clean year last season.Watson is as good as ever, unsurprisingly.

Mavericks: Parmenter was huge defensively and was constantly drawing attention to herself, both positively and negatively. She really needs to be more disciplined though. When Fraser was in C, absolutely nobody was coming to get the centre pass receive; it looked like Lightning had about three extra players! They just seem to have no rhythm as a team, which is understandable with Glasgow coming back, but they need to sort out their CPR and SPR. Agree with the comments that Palavi and Glasgow are too similar to play together at this stage, and the feeders seemed terrified of feeding Jok despite how reliable she is.

I just had a look at the match on Youtube and apparently it was “what looked like a very bad ankle injury.” An ankle injury so bad they had to call the match off? I suppose it’s not a huge venue and it might have been hard to care for her properly if there aren’t the proper facilities. Wishing poor Leah a speedy recovery.

Kamo via Instagram: “The way this played out is exactly why I made a complaint in the first place. There is a silencing culture (of women- shock horror) in this sport in Australia where if you have any opinions, diversity, courage- then you are othered- a ‘troublemaker’ while the people benefiting from the silence stay in their positions of power and control the narrative. Shame on you netball Australia for being complicit despite verbally confirming to me that the environment was ‘toxic’. Good on you for upholding the ‘policies’ that don’t protect your employees or the safety of our sport”

Wallam via Instagram: “So proud to stand in solidarity with @remikamo. You stood up with strength, courage and resilience some can only dream of. We know the truth and we will heal and move on. They know the truth and that’s what they have to live with.”

Some pretty powerful words from both of them. Hope everybody involved (specifically the two of them and Stower) is okay, and that this is a new beginning for the club.

Champion Data making some errors in their documentation of on-court changes- understandable as it’s a very fast-paced day, but you have to know who’s getting on court! In yesterday’s Mavericks game they didn’t even acknowledge that Emma Walters played about half of the last quarter (replacing Fraser), and have her listed as playing 0 minutes.

Makes you wonder how many stats they attribute to the wrong player, in regular season too.

To nobody’s surprise, Kumwenda/ATN is a horrendous shooting combination. Movement is alright but there’s just not enough shots going up.
MJ needs to stay in the circle, this is a different style of play than the Vixens.
