Oh poor Bailey, that was not the start of dreams. Rejected shot, bad pass and missed shot after that.
And off she goes š- This reply was modified 2 years, 10 months ago by StatsNerd21.
in reply to: 2022 Cadbury Series #1347269Another great intercept by Souness! She’s just been so impressive.
I do wonder what Firebirds will do with that defence end. Perhaps a similar strategy to last signing period- one established international and one rookie, now that Bakewell-Doran has found her feet? Personally I think Queensland Bridey Condren and Ash Ervin both have a lot of talent in my opinion, but Ervin is much younger with less experience. Perhaps Condren will return to Firebirds?
To me, the announcement makes it sound like she’s leaving the club but who knows
Can’t tell from the article whether it was her choice or the club’s. Surely if it was the club’s then she would still be a TP? Maybe she’s back to Firebirds although that’s very WD-heavy. Magpies? Same issue though.
Batcheldor is contracted for next year, and four defenders and four shooters isn’t going to work. I really hope Romelda can find a contract, she’s on 198 games and nobody wants her to be forced out like this š
The NS Article says Dehaney is on a 2-year contract š
Everything I’m about to say is very unlikely and far-fetched, but I’m here for the speculation :yahoo:
Something could be happening between Newton and Jenner, or even Lewis. Newton or Lewis would both benefit from an open starting GK spot at Firebirds- for all we know they could be going there together! Lewis and Jenner could be swapping, or Newton and Jenner could be swapping. Newton was a Vixens training partner for three years… maybe it’s circular? Newton back to Vixens (worse deal for her), Jenner to Magpies and Lewis to Firebirds? I honestly have no clue, someone needs to take this computer away from me :mail:The fact she’s wearing the GA bib suggests they’ve signed a GS too, ie Austin. Can’t be too disappointed with another import if she’s this impressive! Looking forward to watching her for sure :yahoo:
Maddie Hinchliffe would definitely fit well at Fever. They may even elevate Zoe Cransberg- I know she’s inexperienced but she’s done a good job this year and can cover all three midcourt positions, which is needed there (Anstiss hasn’t played WA in years). Hulita Veve also deserves a call-up and fits the brief, but I can’t see her leaving Queensland.
I think that would be breaking her contract, although if there were aggravating circumstances I suppose she could retire. Francis-Bayman only had a 1-year contract so she could leave.
Fowler is still contracted for 2023
@sami j A Smith-esque WD who can slide either way is what Fever should be looking for. Does Lambden play C? If so she would be ideal at Fever because they really do need a third option there. If not then any of those three would be deserving of the spot.
I’m not sure. Maybe something to do with the pay deal signed last year? That only lasts two years (ie 2022 and 2023) but maybe that’s unrelated
I feel for Sinclair š . A surprising choice considering Garbin only had one really solid game this season. I wonder who’ll take her place- personally I’m hoping for Allen to be elevated.
