So proud of the Aussies. I’m the first to admit I had written them off. Jamaica just looked too good – especially in what was supposed to be their weakest area, the midcourt. But they shook off all the doubters and showed excellent growth mindset.
Klau is my favourite player going around atm (I can’t go past a Swift!). I was so excited to see her come into the game and she was just what the Aussie defence needed. Very good decision making by Marinkovic – much better than the pool game.
The key to the win for me was Braz and Moloney- just like in the semi. Great pressure in defence and did a wealth of work in attack.
I was glad to see the Jamaican girls with smiles on their faces. It’s disappointing to lose, but a silver is still a massive achievement and should be celebrated.StojParticipantAugust 7, 2022 at 12:16 amPost count: 44
Loving Ash Braz! Doing so much work to shutdown Metcalf. I’d like to see Klau come on at GK. Bruce has given away a few silly penalties and I can see it getting expensive as the game goes on.
A number of the 50/50 decisions are going the way of the diamonds. If that changes, they’re in big trouble.StojParticipantAugust 6, 2022 at 6:41 pmPost count: 44
There needs to be changes in the midcourt for the ferns. The ball is getting into the Jamaican goal circle way too quicklyStojParticipantAugust 6, 2022 at 6:18 pmPost count: 44
I didn’t think there would be such a difference in the score this early! Fantastic quarter from JamaicaStojParticipantAugust 6, 2022 at 5:26 pmPost count: 44
I’m tipping a Jamaica v England final. I just don’t think the ferns have the attacking firepower to beat Wilson and Sterling. And I’m not confident in Australia’s ability to swing momentum without a timeout.
For all the debate about imports in the SSN, I actually don’t think that’s the thing having the most impact. For me it’s the ability to work out a game plan on the fly and shifting momentum themselves without talking to their coach every 5 minutes.StojParticipantAugust 5, 2022 at 7:25 amPost count: 44StojParticipantAugust 5, 2022 at 6:40 amPost count: 44StojParticipantAugust 4, 2022 at 7:36 pmPost count: 44
Jamaica produced the goods when it counted. I think a change needed to be made in attack – Wood was just not driving into the circle enough. Would have liked to have seen Aryang have more game time – I think she has the aerial ability to match well against this team.

I totally agree that the Diamonds could rest Hadley and Wood if they needed to. The other players that are left can easily cover the positions needed. The only problem would come if they were desperate for a change if the Jamaican defence are completely dominating.StojParticipantJuly 30, 2022 at 10:32 pmPost count: 44
The Aus v Sco game was closer than the scoreline reflects. I thought the Scottish girls had some really good passages of play, just cancelled that out with some silly errors at times.
For Australia, I really liked Braz in C. She showed that she can feed the moving circle quite well.StojParticipantJuly 29, 2022 at 10:24 pmPost count: 44StojParticipantJuly 14, 2022 at 2:28 pmPost count: 44
I’m another one who doesn’t understand this move to Fever for Jenner. I know her starting spot has been taken RBD, but Bec Bulley has been the assistant coach to Akle, who is well known for using her bench. So I can only imagine that Bulley will be quite similar. Jenner would warm the bench much less at Firebirds than she will at Fever I predict.StojParticipantJuly 14, 2022 at 8:20 amPost count: 44
Got an email from Swifts membership this morning thanking Bec Bulley for her time as she’s leaving the club to take on the Firebirds Head Coach job.
