Personally, I don’t think Maia has earnt her spot in the Ferns. When she has a shocker, it’s completely shocking. Unfortunately she has had a few over the past year. Imagine if she had another one in a semi or grand final?
If all players are fully fit, there’s a lot of experience with Ekenasio TPSR and Mes. If Nweke is fully recovered, I’d say she’d be included. However I think Dunn deserves that spot too. These two have been absolutely solid for the past 2 seasons.

in reply to: 2022 SSN ROUND 11 #1343258@Ian that is my exact point! Cox was so quick to dismiss her, but did not say anything about the ball being delivered to her.
I will admit I haven’t seen every Pivot episode, but I can’t recall her dismissing so quickly any other squad member? And there’s a few who have had some up-and-down games.in reply to: 2022 SSN ROUND 11 #1343247On Pivot, Cath Cox strongly calling Donnell Wallam a non selection for Diamonds after her past two performances. I thought that was a very harsh call.
in reply to: 2022 ANZP ROUND 11 #1343136This is how a team should dominate a Nweke-less Mystics team!
in reply to: 2022 ANZP ROUND 11 #1343117I was expecting Tactix to roll over Mystics, without Nweke there. 5 goals is a nice win, but I would have been expecting more if I was in the Tactix camp.
Nweke is easily a 10-15 point turnaround. Teams need to be trying to win by as much. Helene wouldn’t be too concerned about losing by 5 or 1, cause IF Nweke comes back in that’s an easy turnaround.in reply to: 2022 ANZP ROUND 10 #1342930I feel the fitter Ekenasio gets, the better her shooting % will get. She still has a fair way to go til she gets to full fitness. Only really noticed this in the last quarter, but there were times she wasn’t even playing defence.
in reply to: CWG Diamonds Squad #1342846After watching Liz Watson live running at C, she’s amazing there.
There are two middies that haven’t made the cut, who are having great seasons at WA – Proud and Browne. Yet selectors are over looking them cause they want two C options.I would take one C specialist (probably Hadley, as I can’t see them dropping her). Use Liz as backup, but starting WA. And then use Proud or Browne as backup WA.
If they did go this way (which they won’t), then all they need is a specialist WD – Braz, Moloney or JLP. All three can run a full C game too.I would love to hear other past players and coaches, list their twelve for CWGs, like how Susan Petitt has done. Be interesting to see their lineups.
in reply to: 2022 SSN ROUND 10 #1342779I’ve always liked Watson at C. She was amazing to watch live. She was definitely everywhere. Her defensive skills is so strong, and combined with Moloney was intense.
Vixens timing on attack was on point, Fever defence looked all over the place. Though I thought Stacey Francis was extremely solid. Moving her into the circle was a good move.I still can’t get over, Dan didn’t make a change in the first qtr. I was sitting there thinking, WTF are you waiting for? That change should have came when they were down 8-1.
Fevers strongest 7 is with Pitman on the court. If they want to win it this year, Dan has to find a way to get her into the 10. Her and Fowler have a natural connection. If she wasn’t there today, they would have lost by way more IMO.
in reply to: 2022 SSN ROUND 10 #1342726Chelsea should have started. Hopefully she comes on in the 2nd qtr
in reply to: 2022 SSN ROUND 10 #1342707On Instagram it says Jess Anstiss is out with injury and Pitman is in. Zoe Cransberg is out too with injury
in reply to: 2022 ANZP ROUND 10 #1342692Really enjoyed watching this Mystics/Magic game.
I agree @Maryann Mystics have shown they are not a one trick pony. They definitely need Nweke to win this competition, no doubt about that. But it was great to see a moving circle. This game really could have gone either way.I was willing the Magic to win. If there was ever going to be a time for them, it was this game. There so many great individual battles happening in this game.
Ekenasio gives me hope that she’ll be ready for CWGs. I still think she has time on her hands. Karaka is starting to play into some form, which is great to see too.
A Silverferns back line of Jury/Karaka/Burger is looking really good. Sulu could also be in that starting line up too.The shooting circle is still up in the air. I have my ideas, but have to see who plays themselves into form.
in reply to: 2022 ANZP ROUND 10 #1342306I’m looking forward to the game where Magic can play their strongest lineup for a full game. That’s with Mes/Ekenasio in the circle.
I’ve been impressed with their defence. I’m not a Mikaere fan, but I think she’s been playing well this season. Her and Maihi have been combining well.in reply to: England Roses Squad 2022/23 #1342164Can understand why they haven’t taken Pitman, due to her lack of court time.
However every time she has taken to the court, she has completely dominated. She benched a Diamonds squad member (Parmenter), dominated Gabi Simpson.
Would have liked to have seen her matchup on Braz. With Nat Metcalfe as their starting WA, Pitman could have been a great impact player.

in reply to: 2022 ANZP ROUND 9 #1342057Wilson definitely not deserving. But how is Nweke not deserving?
How do you put Mes over Nweke? In saying that, I do like the 4 shooters you selected. Very versatile.
My four would be Nweke Dunn Ekenasio Mes
in reply to: 2022 SSN ROUND 8 #1342048@vanhelsing oh yep, I get what your saying! Definitely some great players in there, they do have a Diamonds defence.
Though if we are comparing to the Swifts, Fever IMO would be worse off.
