in reply to: 2022 QUAD SERIES – (Jan) Eng/SA/NZ/Aus #1335991
Bueta is such a beast back at GS. Easily Australia’s top line up today.
Wonder if Firebirds are regretting letting Dwan go. Could have been a real threat with Bueta/Dwan as their shooting combo.
England were so strong for 40 mins. Feel like the substitutions lost them the game. Caldwell was strong at GS and got lost at GA. Malcolm also didn’t offer anything.
Safe to say Caldwell is going to Com Games. IMO stronger GS than Harten. Fisher might miss out due to an inability to play GA.
I think the Aus Com Games team will be the 12 today. Only position up for grabs is the back up middie. Guessing Price though.
in reply to: 2022 QUAD SERIES – (Jan) Eng/SA/NZ/Aus #1335773Australia were very good. Simple as that.
Combinations were right and Bueta was always going to bring something to that circle. Watson also is a rock at WA.NZ didn’t click.
NZ are really missing Eke, Poi, Watson and Gordon. Gordon and Poi offer more speed and unpredictability.Nweke isn’t an impact player. I would start her with Wilson Crampton Saunders Burger Karaka and Jury. I don’t think Fitzpatrick is back fully from her injury.
While it is disappointing, this is the time to try new players and combinations. NZ has lost most of their top players over the past few years and it takes time.
Grace and Tiana haven’t played against Aus at this level. Kayla and Phoenix were out for a few years. Claire is a WD not a C at international level. Also, this is the youngest shooting circle NZ has ever had. They need time and game experience.Noels took Vui over, so we need to see what she can and can’t do.
I don’t expect a win against England, but hopefully we see players step up.
This is only Quad Series, the bigger picture is Com Games.Johnston was ok for someone who hasn’t played a proper netball game in years!
I want to see Mila with Gina at some point. Gina seems lost for some reason. Maybe she is lacking understanding with Tiana and Sam.While it was a thrashing, it isn’t the end of the world and NZ will get the experience they need.
in reply to: Aust 21&U Squad #1318099Woulf also missing.
in reply to: GIANTS NETBALL 2021 #1317790NZ? Training partner for an ANZ team? Is she a kiwi also?
Might be following Bassett to the Magic set up
in reply to: CENTRAL PULSE 2021 #1317749I think Abby Erwood will be the replacement. She was just named in the 2021 Central Beko training squad.
in reply to: QUEENSLAND FIREBIRDS 2021 #1317673Good choice. She will do well.
I think Nweke will be used after another full ANZ season.
SR will need to have a strong ANZ to get back into the top 12.in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1317527Stanton will thrive and develop into a great player at Vixens. Will be able to focus on her GA but not become a WA like she was at Fever. Being fed by the world’s best WA and Australian Diamonds.
Fever isnt well known for helping shooters develop so she probably is glad she is out of that environment!
Never heard of Barkmeyer. But good they are going local!
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1317447Interesting. Guess it’s good they will actually use an Australian defender next season!
Some odd decisions made by Tbirds in the off season
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1317356Interesting signing! Retired a few months ago, but now playing next year. Plus knee issues.
If she is fully fit, what a star signing.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1317308Newton is a good signing for Magpies. Allows Mentor to be rested if needed
in reply to: ADELAIDE THUNDERBIRDS 2021 #1317307Surprised Blackmann wasn’t given a contract. Support your local players.
in reply to: CENTRAL PULSE 2021 #1317268Elliot would be ideal. O’Sullivan former Magic player?
I wouldnt go for an import. Pulse have enough experience in their team.
in reply to: Katrina Rore… #1317172Congratulations! Great news for them.
Who will replace her at Pulse? Mason will get more court time which is a plus!
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1317171Lightning looking strong. No Langman is a huge loss, but Cassidy and Shimmin are 2 great signings
