in reply to: 2024 Team Girls Cup #1369052
Why is Batcheldor not on the Lightning team list today?
Good to see Williams back for TBirds.
in reply to: 2024 Team Girls Cup #1369022Vixens have a massive defensive issue. Yes they made mistakes in attack but they had nice passages and turnovers were actually pretty even with TBirds. But defensively they got one clean intercept and it was Walters. Without Weston I don’t know why they didn’t try a backline of Moloney-Eddy-Mannix. Maybe they will next game. They really should have tried to recruit a ball winner instead of Ellis, they weren’t even attacking the ball.
in reply to: 2024 Team Girls Cup #1369021Vixens ahould be taking Moloney off not Walters. Walters needs experience and Moloney isn’t have a good game.
in reply to: 2024 Team Girls Cup #1369020Vixens have one goal from a gain. TBirds have 10!
Why not try Eddy at GD with Moloney at WD.
in reply to: 2024 Team Girls Cup #1369017Shamera in a league of her own. Really is the difference.
Enjoyed Weston’s reminder to Mannix to put her hands up in the time out. I want Eddy at GD! They really are missing Weston immensely.
Apparently Weston has a lower leg injury and won’t play all weekend.
I want Walters on. Give Garbin the ball now!
Justice for Allen, get her a contract.
in reply to: 2024 Team Girls Cup #1369015Williams also an absentee.
in reply to: 2024 Team Girls Cup #1369013What is up with Weston?
Vixens said load management last weekend but hmmmmm I’m not buying it.
Also, grrrr what is with the Mannix at GD obsession?!? I hate it. I guess they don’t have other GDs in their squad, oh wait they have Eddy and Coffey.
in reply to: 2024 SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL #1368989I know I’ve raised it before but what has happened to Ruby Barkmeyer? I think everyone agrees that she was promoted too soon in 2021 but since then she was able to show what she could do at TGC in 2022. Since then (yes she has had a few injuries) she really has fallen away. Unless she played the closed game against Magic she went to NZ last month and got no court time. Vixens just posted their TGC squad and Barkmeyer is the only non selection (Kumwenda as well obviously but she is unavailable). Can’t help but think this may be her last year at Vixens. I have seen her train WA at Vixens and she is actually very good there but she keeps playing GA in VNL. She played VNL this week so mustn’t be an injury issue. I would put Graham and Andrew ahead of her but strange she isn’t going at all.
in reply to: 2024 SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL #1368988Circling back on the comments re Firebirds and their plethora of practice matches there was an article on Code with an interview with Bulley. As part of their review last year they’ve changed the way they do performance analysis and also had multiple away pre season trips / camps to improve relationships in the team.
in reply to: 2024 SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL #1368973Now I’ve recovered from the shock…I can see the decision is probably based more on what the team needs. Garbin looks ready for a huge season and will anchor the attack. They need a player more comfortable in GA and feeding even though that isn’t what Kumwenda was. Graham didn’t quite show that in Ballarat but maybe she did in NZ or closed practice matches. Maybe Garbin’s run at GA on the weekend contributed as it’s obvious they need to leave her in GS where she stars. Austin’s 5 minutes at GS on the weekend weren’t great but she has performed in GS well in the past so they probably have confidence in that. Graham definitely has more natural range on her shot (although Andrew shot the super shot well on the weekend) and movement. I’d compare her game to Glasgow.
Andrew and Graham play for the same VNL club. Graham didn’t play last night…that should have been a give away! Andrew shot 45/50 including out at GA, she does play GA like a GS so hopefully Vixens work with her to grow this area of her game.
I agree hopefully Andrew gets the rookie spot. She definitely deserves it.
I just hope it isn’t too early for Graham who is still only 18 and her debut season goes like Mundy’s not Barkmeyer’s. Graham does have a little more experience than they both had as they came off no netball the year prior due to covid.
I like both Andrew and Graham as players so I can’t really lose.
in reply to: 2024 SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL #1368971Seems they want more GA coverage and they did try Austin at GS on the weekend. Also wondering where this leaves Barkmeyer who didn’t even make the bench for Ballarat?
What a rise it’s been for Graham. 2-3 years ago she missed the Vic u 17 team and was named as a TP then got an injury call up and made Aus TID. Definitely is one for taking chances! Made her champ debut in VNL last year and Fury debut so she does have a bit more experience than Barkmeyer did in 2021 who hadn’t played either due to covid.
in reply to: 2024 SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL #1368970Vixens have signed Graham!
I’m shocked. Everything I heard was it was Andrew. Where does this leave Andrew? Surely she gets the rookie spot?
Also even more confused now as to why they didn’t leave Graham on in the final quarter against Fever and make her play through her problems? And why was Andrew the first change in both games to the shooters if Graham is signed? Weird!
Don’t get me wrong. I really like Graham as player. She is versatile. Has a beautiful shot and a great future. But she is very young and raw. Have heard a lot of comparisons to Fawns but I think that just adds pressure.
in reply to: 2024 SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL #1368962Streutker as a TP. Where does this leave Jok in the place for replacing Glasgow?
But seriously all these internationals as TPs. TPs weren’t introduced as positions for internationals but multiple clubs have gone down this path. NA needs to sort out the development pathways asap.
in reply to: 2024 SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL #1368961Vixens went over at the start of 2020, just prior to the covid shut downs. Swifts have been quite a few times. VIS go regularly too.
in reply to: 2024 SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL #1368927Whilst they didn’t play on the weekend the player I’m tipping for a huge season is Jenner. She looks incredibly fit and looked good in their games against Giants.
Just read an article about Ravaillion. No return date is set. She is training.
