On the coverage of Comm games the stats summary shown on screen at the end of one game (watched on replay on 7+) had contacts and team fouls, (presumably this is total penalties). I just wondered if this was a variation in terminology in England or an error.TrollyParticipantJuly 30, 2022 at 2:13 pmPost count: 11TrollyParticipantJune 1, 2022 at 5:09 pmPost count: 11TrollyParticipantMay 29, 2022 at 11:28 amPost count: 11
I’m disappointed this game wasn’t one of the Kayo freebies this week. The feature game for indigenous round but not available to view unless subscribed. Unfortunately netball is the only sport on Kayo of any interest to me so can’t justify the subscription. I would also love to read the articles published on Code but again can’t justify a subscription for the one sport that is of interest to me. I feel netball at this level is becoming difficult to follow, locking out some fans. I do understand the need to generate revenue (for the sport and players and the former players and journalists writing for Code) but am feeling a bit alienated by the costs.
Sorry for the rant. 😬TrollyParticipantApril 12, 2022 at 7:27 pmPost count: 11
Well, this is disappointing. Thought I would watch my first game for this season only to find it locked on Kayo. Have sent messages to Kayo and SSN expressing my disappointment. I’m finding it hard to be interested this year without free broadcast on tv and with the continuation of the ridiculous super shot.TrollyParticipantFebruary 27, 2022 at 4:20 pmPost count: 11
Who is the male commentator? He has been dreadful! Mixes up players constantly. Has no idea about netball. Why can’t we have two expert netball commentators for the final?TrollyParticipantJuly 1, 2021 at 10:37 amPost count: 11
Sue’s comments were more inflammatory but to me Stacey’s comments show that she is solely focussed on her Fever role with no consideration of her diamonds role. They also come across as Fever being desperate for the points and not caring about the perception of them as a team or the impact of their statements on the SSN and other teams. Why are they so desperate? Oh that’s right…the penalty for breaching the salary cap.
Seriously, with the way Fever are playing this season they really should make the grand final and win. Hopefully if they do they can be gracious and respectful towards their opponents, unlike their recent behaviour.TrollyParticipantJuly 1, 2021 at 10:26 amPost count: 11
This is the name of the article that quoted Stacey. I have copied the quote below.
West Coast Fever slam Melbourne Vixens after Super Netball grand final rematch cancellation – ABC
Fever coach Stacey Marinkovich said the match should be declared a forfeit, with her team to receive the competition points, or staged later in the season.
“It’s a forfeit for me and we get those points,” she said.
“Or the game’s rescheduled and we’ve got to find a place where we can manage the players’ loads, make sure that we don’t enhance injuries [during] such a late part of the season and that we actually can get the opportunity to get the points.”TrollyParticipantJune 27, 2021 at 6:12 pmPost count: 11
My doubts about the suitability of Stacy M as Diamonds coach have increased. How will this have affected her relationship with the Vixens players who are part of the Diamonds squad? With both Jo and Kate making posts about their side of the situation it really looks like Stacy and Fevers statements and the consequent social media storm have impacted them. The behaviour of Fever, Stacy and Sue G was reckless. It prompted aggressive, rude and disrespectful posts by some Fever fans (though many Fever fans did call them out on the statement) and could have a negative impact on the mental health of the Vixens players who are already vulnerable due to their unplanned and lengthy stint away from home.
I think it was foolish of NA to allow Stacy to continue as Fever coach this season. There are clear conflicts of interest and she does not seem to be able to manage them.TrollyParticipantOctober 25, 2020 at 10:40 amPost count: 11
So….this move may have been planned for some time. It seems very like the situation 2 years ago when Alice was contracted at the expense of Medhurst. Fever were in the final and wouldn’t want to unsettle the team prior to playing but had a replacement player lined up. Sad for Stanton. I’m not sure what Glasgow gains unless she gets significant court time, but, who is benched? Fowler, who their whole game plan is built around or Alice, who plays her role (as playmaker and feeder) really well. Maybe Fowler only plans to stay 1 more year and Fever are planning ahead? Hmmm, then what happens to Alice? Will she be able to play a more conventional ga role, putting up more shots? I’m perplexed!
