In Australia last week, all eyes were on the Bushfire Relief charity match, while in New Zealand, the six ANZ Premiership teams were involved in a pre-season hit out in Otaki. Meanwhile, round two of the Vitality Netball Superleague was an exciting one, with many twists and turns, highlighted by the TV match between Surrey Storm and London Pulse on Monday.

Pulse got out of the blocks very quickly and set up a huge quarter time lead of 19-6. But Storm fought back strongly, so much so that they took the lead and seemed headed for victory in the fourth quarter. They led 49-43 before another twist. Young up and coming London Pulse defender Funmi Fadoju starred in the final stages with key intercepts as Pulse scored 8 straight goals to win 51-50.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Celtic Dragons found themselves playing for more than a quarter with just 6 players on court and only one defender in the circle. Goal keeper Latanya Wilson was sent off, first for two minutes, then late in the third quarter, she was sent off for the remainder of the game. As a result, the margin blew out and wasn’t exactly a true reflection of the game.

Apologies for the lack of defensive stats on some of these games…
