NS SCOREBOARD – SEP 12, 2020

It’s only 11 days since the last edition of the NS SCOREBOARD, but in that time we’ve seen 3 rounds of Suncorp Super Netball played. Round 9 saw four relatively straightforward victories to the top four sides; Vixens, Swifts, Lightning and Fever, but round 10 was anything but straightforward.

Missing goal keeper Emily Mannix, competition front-runners  Melbourne Vixens fought back to draw against West Coast Fever. Fever dominated for much of the match and led by 14 at one stage. But thanks to their successful use of the super shot, Vixens clawed their way back in the second half and actually hit the front in the final stages, before Jhaniele Fowler scored at the death to level it up. Following that, the Queensland Firebirds put in a tremendous performance to upset second-placed NSW Swifts and then the Sunshine Coast Lightning got up in the dying seconds over Giants. In this match, it was the use of super shots by Jo Harten and Kiera Austin that kept Giants in it, and eventually got them level, before Steph Wood sealed the win for Lightning with a super shot of her own.

In round 11, the top of the table clash saw Vixens defeat Swifts in a high quality game for the second time this year. In other round 11 matches, Fever thrashed Lightning, Giants defeated Magpies and Firebirds only just snuck home against Thunderbirds, all of these results also happening for the second time this year. At this stage, it’s hard to see the the top four teams changing, but the order of those four teams may change. Round 12 starts today.
