Four weeks out from the opening whistle, we're excited to announce the revised 2020 ANZ Premiership schedule. Our six teams will battle it out in a 10-week season with matches every Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday, live on @skysportnz

Interesting thing about this revised draw is that there is no playoff to get into the final. The final will simply be a straight match up between the two teams who finish 1 and 2 on the ladder after the preliminary rounds. Similarly, there will be 3v4 and 5v6 playoffs as well.
This year it might not be a problem, but if that system had been in place last year, Pulse & Steel were obvious 1 & 2 a LONG way out from finals.
Doubt the Steel will be 1 or 2 this year, unless Jen O’Connell has sorted her shooting during the break.
Not a fan of the final series.
Look at Stars last year.If we get go the final 3 rounds and the top 2 teams are obvious then people will lose interest.
But, netball is back! How good!
mcleod, all I was saying is that it’s possible we’ll know the 2 finalists a long way out from the end of the comp, taking away a lot of interest. And it doesn’t give a chance to a team like Stars who improved a lot in the final weeks.
Ian you never seem to have many if any good things to say about NZ Netball, esp the ANZ Premiership.
Just be happy Netball will be played, you will prob get to see it free, (while NZ people pay)Me I shall wait and see what the decision is on the 2020 SSN.
Your country is having squabbles between Premiers, 3/4 of you boarders are closed.
How does that work for the Fever, Tbirds, Fbirds and Lightning. They can travel to NSW and Victoria, but will have to isolate for 14 days after return.
Not to mention all the South Africans have returned home, plus some of the English players. Will they be allowed to return to Australia???. Doubt it.
It’s great they’ll be playing soon. Just think they could have done things a bit differently. That 2v3 game gave more teams a chance. You should know by now that one of my pet hates is when sports administrators do things which are unfair or not good for the competition. And that doesn’t matter whether it’s in NZ, Aust, Eng or wherever. These are different times for sure, but still, they could have found some space for that playoff game or some other way of keeping teams’ final hopes up throughout the comp.
TS is a BIG supporter of NZ Netball and he basically said just what I’m thinking…

I won’t lose interest.
Those who lose interest if the comp is to one sided, can turn the TV off, and go and watch something else.
I won’t lose interest either.
I’ll be really dark if Australia lets the overseas SSN players back in. I was disgusted that the Warriors were allowed there. I’d give anything to be able to get over there (even isolate two weeks and then when I return to NZ) but I can’t.
I wont lose interest, but if 2 teams are guaranteed the top 2 spots with a few weeks remaining, it will be pretty predictable.
Last year it was clear that Steel and Pulse were the top 2 teams, but Stars got up when it mattered against Steel. It added to the competition.Surely they could have had a 2nd vs 3rd play off before the final .
Magic won’t have Marshall I dont think?she is still in Australia. Great opportunity for another young kiwi shooter in Khiarna Williams.
Maybe Falkner will be back for a few matches? That’s quite a harsh outlook considering some of the International players depend on playing in Australia for their living Maryann. Why shouldn’t people with job commitments be able to return if they take the necessary precautions, they’re not in Australia on some holiday.
Some interesting thoughts here. I’m just looking forward to seeing a netball court with players on it tbh. Not fussed at all with the draw. I’m hoping Tactix can do it this year. This is probably their best shot with a fully fit team and a great bench. TP is the final key to the attack that they needed.
Definitely can’t count out Pulse and maybe Steel. Magic seem to have made a big shift in their roster and it seems to be working quite nicely. But I can’t see the Aucklanders making the 1v2 final.
I’m not invested in any team, so I definitely won’t lose interest either.
Decided today… the overseas players will be allowed to return to Australia.
