Sorry if this is too early

I Wanted to put up a post to discuss shooting circles next year as I feel that for a lot of teams that’s where there have been doubts and most talk of change

There are so many quality shooters who are deserving of ssn contracts Palavi Jok Cholhok Nweke

There are not as many spots available

Swifts have a spot up for grabs

Firebirds may have a spot if wallam goes elsewhere but then that also questions where will wallam go and what is happening with bueta

Glasgow coming back to Mavs puts Sinclair at risk (no need for her super shot shooting)

      Where does Sinclair look

Dwan and Moore have both had some unreal games but a lot of inconsistency can firebirds afford to keep both? Dwan would be my pick to stay

So what I’ve heard is Liv Tchine is going to firebirds to replace Wallam.

Wallam to thunderbirds, must mean Aiken is retiring.

Mary Cholhok has gotten a few calls in Australia. Though my bet is she’s going to the swifts.

Tbh I have a feeling Sinclair will be without a contract, and the mavericks will keep Jok. I’d like to see her replace Harten at the giants.

My understanding is that Tippah had secured a longer term commitment as part of her package in returning to Queensland? Living in the same city as her partner is also obviously a consideration no other team than Lightning can match. So I’m pretty confident she’ll remain in the purple dress.

I too have heard the Wallam to Adelaide rumblings. Ditto on Cholhok to Swifts. I hadn’t heard anything about Aiken-George retiring? I am of the opposite opinion on that one, her form this year has been terrific. If Thunderbirds are looking to get a little younger with Wallam then I think Romelda could go to Giants, Firebirds or Swifts.

Is Shanice Beckford assured of a Fever spot next season? That’s one to watch, she’s been a strong addition overall but there are times where she must be used situationally. I think Dan Ryans preferred fluid athletic style might not entirely gel with his Jamaican GAs skill set, and he could look in a different direction. Watch that space.

I also think the Firebirds will take a very close look at Uneeq Palavi.

I also thought that firebirds would look at palavi, having already resigned veve could be a good match and good for Tongan netball as well

              Does Gab Sinclair play WA?
Following Nat Medhurst Q & A on Instagram, she believes Jok, Glasgow and Caldwell should be kept. Which I agree!
However I would move Sinclair into a WA (swing GA) position. Fraser IMO has been disappointing this season at WA. I feel Sinclair couldn’t be any worse. And seeing how many injuries that have happened this season, she’d be very handy to have.

At the beginning of the season I would have said Aitken-George was just there for one season but I’d happily have her continue on at the Thunderbirds for another year. Otherwise I feel like Uneeq could fit in there, especially with the ability to play GA, it would give L. Austin more opportunity (similar to the Austin-Cardwell set up in 2023)

While I haven’t seen any SSN this year, I am loving hearing about Aiken-George’s resurgence! I forgot she came to the fore in 2007 World Cup and remembered the players at their peak then – McMahon, Van Dyk, Ellis, Gerrard… I hope she sticks around for another year.

Can anyone see Lucy Austin moving on?

Tbirds fans on social media are constantly hand wringing over her not getting enough court time. To which I say, there’s a reason she’s not getting court time and it’s not just that RAG has been brilliant this season (she’s not getting enough accolades honestly). But I still can’t see her leaving, wherever she goes she will be the understudy for some time yet.

I loved RAGs interview from the other week, when she was asked about her current form. Her response was that she didn’t have to play against Shamera Sterling, but gets to train against her each week.
RAG was inform last year too. But there was only one player that could get on top of her, which was Sterling.

I cannot see Tbirds not wanting her next year. The only way Wallam could be going there, is if RAG is retiring.

Players like Matisse, palavi, Lucy, belle aren’t starting hooters imo, they are impact players at best.

SSN starting shooters are usually tall with a big physique besides Cara.

Though I do believe if Lucy and Belle can get a good preseason they’ll be the future of the Australian shooting end.

I think someone like Van der berg, would suit the SSN competition, strong and plays like a Garbin/Bueta in Gs, and can run in Ga if needed.

To be clear I think Lucy Austin CAN be a starting shooter, eventually. Stacey M would appear to agree with me. But she’s not there yet, she’s still working on being an impact player.

I might be way off in thinking there was a South African shooter in one of the teams or was this last year?

You’re right, Rolene Streutker was officially the signed replacement for Glasgow but she got injured and fell out of favour with Jok’s form. I don’t think she’s ready for SSN yet, she only debuted last November. Might need time in NSL or ANZP, but she has good potential and I can see her taking on Potgieter’s role for South Africa in time.

Are we talking about Belle as Charlie Bell?
