One week and a bit down. What have been your highlights so far?
as a kiwi definitely the rowing, but watching, has to be the women’s gymnastics – Simone Biles is just amazing, almost inhuman with what she can do (but also very much shows the human side as well!!)…people often argue the goat status in alot of sports, but there’s really no denying her status in that sense
Low point was seeing how revolting the water was for the Triathlon.
I entered a comp at work naming the country that would win the most medals per head of population. I went for New Zealand, who currently are 2nd in that.
I also predicted NZ to win 5 Golds, 3 in Women’s Kayak, 1 in Cycling and 1 Women’s 7s. Could well surpass that, with 1 already in Rowing and possible another tonight. The crowds have been very impressive for most events.
I feel they need to cut back on a good number of Swimming distances. They have done it with Sailing, Rowing, Cycling, flat water Kayak.
And as for Breakdancing Why T F is that there it’s not 1984.
I’ve enjoyed the rowing, the triathlon and the cycling, and some of the track that I’ve watched.
The River Sienne should not have been allowed for the triathlon, such a potential health issue for the competitors.
I can not fathom, in this day and age, how boxing remains an allowed event now that there is such evidence as to what a blow to the head does.
Skateboarding does my head in as a sport as well.THE highlight for all us kiwis is definitely watching our best sporting team in the country win gold, the women’s NZ 7s team!!!
Just reading that Cricket, Squash, Baseball/Softball and Lacrosse are at the next games.
It’s getting far to big. BI love watching the hockey, both men and women. So fast and skilled.
Hockey, tennis, swimming, rugby 7s (both sexes), rowing, triathlon and kayak.
OMG, I love ❤️ working from home.
Well New Zealand now with 5 Gold more to come, loving it.
My favourites are Jess Fox and Nina Kennedy.
Well this morning I watched Breaking. What a utter joke it being at the Olympics.
Thankfully it’s not at the next one, and with luck will never be seen again.
Finger crossed Boxing gets the boot also, farcical stuff.
Anyway most of the Olympics has been great, crowds fantastic.Australia’s already won our highest number of gold medals. But NZ is doing so well at the Olympics too, so I had to check out what their highest is. And it’s 8 golds in LA 1984. They’re currently on 7 and looking very likely to add to that.
This is everything. The NZ guy was willing to share the gold medal but the American said no, so the kiwi went and won it and the American had to settle for silver.
Deadlocked at the end of all their regular jumps, New Zealand’s Hamish Kerr requested that he and USA’s Shelby McEwen share the gold medal, which would have been a great story for both. McEwen said nah, and so it went to a jump-off for the gold. NZ’s Kerr took it.
