The key difference this match is Vixens are not hesitating on the pass even for half a second.
1/2 time: 28-28
Well, this is some game! Tbirds’ defence got them back on top before a late super shot from Kiera Austin. Can’t split them after 30 mins.
THU 28/34
VIX 26/30Gains: THU 3-2
Penalties: VIX 37-33
Turnovers: 6-6Seems to be a big discrepancy against the defending team that Josh Bowring is umpiring. So far penalties are 46-24 against that team.
Frew has been kept quiet. Not having the freedom she had in the semi’s
Wonder if we’ll see Scherian on?If Tbirds win, Scherian will have the most SSN titles to her name.
Just when it looked like Thunderbirds were getting right on top, back come Vixens at it’s 40-40
1/2 time: THU 42-41
Tbirds defenders have come right into it now. We’re 15 mins away from finding our champions for 2024. Or are we? Could we see extra time again?
THU 42/49
VIX 38-43Gains: THU 6-2
Penalties: THU 55-45
Turnovers: VIX 9-8Vixens hanging in there, but Tbirds are up by 5 as we go into the last Power 5 period.
THUNDERBIRDS ARE CHAMPIONS AGAIN!!!
Congratulations to TBirds.
Feel for Austin who played her guts out and was simply outstanding. Would have liked to have seen Graham on at the end, take some pressure off Austin and create space.
Vixens need to recruit a ball winner. They should have targeted Fadoju. The only defender they have that attacks the ball is Ellis. They also need to move Eddy into GD next year. 3 gains and 3 deflections is not going to win a GF.
The lack of holding time is somewhat of a farce.
10 secs left in a grand final and umpire was off with the fairies and wouldn’t call time. Vixens for sure could have scored the 2 and taken the next centre pass in that time.
Well done Tbirds.
Such a tight game, was well controlled by the umpires as well. However not holding time at the end when Wilson deliberately slowed it down was disappointing from Rachel Ayre.
Austin close to best on court in a losing side.
Wow Tbirds had to work REALLY hard for that. I don’t think they shot a single super shot?! Super pleased they had the guts to come back, push on AND hold on.
Poor Hannah Petty getting pole axed in the last trip down court and finished the game doubled over.
Austin nearly dragged her team over the line single handedly.
Great captain’s game from Petty. She was the calm head they needed in the middle and she worked so well with the defensive unit.
A cracking game to end the season.
