Is anyone else starting to get the feeling that all this media coverage is being orchestrated to get the players to back down and give in ???? It’s certainly starting to feel as though it’s a very targeted campaign to get the players looking bad in the eyes of a public who don’t even watch the sport.
Still just a bad look for the sport from both sides of the table.
Why does it all have to be public? I know I wouldn’t want my work contract for all to see.
NA is still apparently in millions of debt, and also apparently SSN runs at a loss every year, so should the players wages be cut if it runs at a loss? Ie reverse revenue sharing lolMinimum is 40k for someone to do netball training and basically sit on the bench majority of the year. Yes it’s more involved than that but basically is what it is.
If it’s in the Diamonds contracts to attend the awards and they were gonna boycott then yes NA has every right to seek legal action. Cause the players would’ve broken a legally binding contract that they signed. That’s what happens in real life and not just a sporting life.
Too much entitlement flying around from everywhere imo. I can’t go to my boss and say show me all your account books from the work I do for you even though you pay me.
Smh keep it up netball and there’ll be no more comp, then the players can go back to having to pay to play state league or something.
Does anyone have more information regarding the government withholding 17million from NA?
Also one thing I don’t like is ANA is spinning it NA aren’t paying the players, they would if they were in contract. Legally they cannot because no contract is signed, it’s the players choice.
But the players are the “product”!
You can have all the admin in the world but without the players there’s literally no comp, no money (still) and no jobs. The government gave NA money for the hosting of the next WC, but NA took 18 months to get around to applying for extra funding, and when the government finally received it, the minister said the NA proposal was underwhelming and unsatisfactory. So, at the moment, that $17m is being withheld, but it doesn’t mean they won’t eventually receive it.
MAKE NO MISTAKE, NETBALL AUSTRALIA IS SQUARELY TO BLAME FOR THE ONGOING PAY DISPUTE
Apparently a deal might’ve been signed today.
An agreement has been reached this morning.
@TB the game of netball (that we watch and mostly enjoy) is the product. The players are an enabler/contributor, albeit a major one. Just as the umpires, coaches, stadiums and associated infrastructure, broadcasters and sponsors are enablers. And as much as it may be an undesirable fact, so in NA. If we don’t have any one of those enablers, we don’t have the product of a game that we attend or watch on TV/streaming.

I get your point @schmeetle. But all those things (enablers) you listed are pretty much nothing without players.
What can a netball court/stadium do without players? What can an umpire do without players? What can broadcasters do without players? Even coaches can’t do anything without players. This whole feud between NA and ANPA proves that nothing can be done without players (contracts). Teams can’t even release their squad.
Thankfully, they have all come up with an agreement! And the sport can move on.
I stumbled across some important information, that was kept out of the media.
The reason why things got so ugly is because KHW used to be a board member for NA until she was let go. After this incident she wanted a players strike in 2017. (She also wanted players to strike in 2004 which unsure of why.)Now she’s gotten her strike, at the players expense.
