From what I’ve heard her religious views are part of it. I don’t think anything physical has happened.
I would hope she did something worthy of losing her spot on the team as opposed to it being a difference in ideology that led to a fallout.
Sam’s religious views are not new, so why are they causing a problem now after 7 years with the club. It’s hard to be out of a team for 2 years and then try to slot back in seamlessly. I would definitely like more an explanation but don’t think we will get. I am very sad to see my Swifties is such disarray.
That’s a really good point. Although I know many people that don’t openly speak about their religion for fear of these types of situations so I wonder how open she was about actual her beliefs/values until recently.
I actually think the curiosity will kill me. I’m looking through every social media platform to try and get an inch into understanding what’s happened. It’s a really sad situation overall.
I think she was open about it. She definitely talks about God in social media posts and I remember an interview when she started with the Swifts about praying before big games.
There’s a short thread about it on Reddit (I know, so reliable…)
It comes up if you look Sam up, some interesting speculation but who knows how much truth is in it.
Hopefully none.Yeah some of the stuff on reddit thread is similar to what I was thinking as well, it’s also similar to a comment I saw slide in very subtly under a social media post on Facebook.
The reddit thread aligns with some of the potential issues I’ve been tossing up in my head, but they’re speculating just as much as we are.
There are others in the team who are quite open about their faith. I recall several interviews where Maddy Proud talks about Jesus and Sophie Fawns has spoken about her Baha’i faith in interviews.
I have no idea what has transpired, but people can become more extreme in their views and behaviour. Her social media foray earlier in the year certainly suggests she is susceptible to internet nutjobs and more divisive content.
It could be a coincidence but the timing of pride month starting aligning with this fall out is interesting.
It feels like it probably started as something small, a disagreement in views and offence caused and then it has blown out and someone hasn’t been able to keep their cool (likely SWJ) and has said some things or sent some nasty messages.
SWJ hasn’t looked the same since her injury, I wonder if that is the real issue. It will be interesting to see what happens to her next. The UK netball scene is changing, I hope she wasn’t thinking about returning as she could be in for a disappointment.
Not training properly, not turning up to the airport, missing team meetings, eating to much McDonald’s,
praying to much, not liking Gay people.
Who would know what was the reason, but I can’t remember a female sports person being sacked. Not totally left field here but maybe doesn’t want to play on Sundays now she’s married – perhaps pressure from new husband.
Its unlikely to remain out of the media but hopefully all parties involved are okay and can get on with their lives.

Good point @Maryann. Most devout Christians in particular mormons (I don’t know what religion she is), don’t work or play sports on Sundays.
If that’s the case, I can understand the club keeping it very private. Cause I could see a lot of the public viewing that as a weak excuse (on SWJ side).I’m still interested to know what the official reason is ????
