This popped in my email inbox this afternoon:
The Origin Australian Diamonds selectors have revealed the five goalers headed to London this January to compete in the Netball Quad Series.
Vice-captain Steph Wood will lead Gretel Bueta, Sophie Garbin, Cara Koenen and the newest squad member Sophie Dwyer.
This is just part one of the squad rollout, with the midcourt to be revealed Thursday afternoon and defence on Friday morning

I wonder if this will be able to go ahead given the new Covid variant from Africa and the UK borders have closed to Africa?
Yes, seriously, it’s so frustrating. Just when it looks like we might be getting on top of things and this happens… :negative:
Very seriously about this series seem a report today that says “The UK is facing a substantial wave of Omicron infections in January without further restrictions” On Friday 58K people tested positive for C19 in a 24hr period and it seems to be rising.
If it does go ahead fans will have to be double vaccinated and wear masks. There is still the safety of the players to consider.
Is the new variant in Australia and New Zealand?
Jinxibo – yes, in Australia but in lowish numbers that is known about. Not all states as yet.
In NZ no, which I can nearly 100% confidently say as every case is sequenced Genomically. Not as yet.It, like the other covid variants, is hard to know how long its actually been around as a lot of countries have low test rates and don’t make the effort to find out the variant of all they do test.

I’m happy enough with the Ferns squad.
