Looking forward to seeing Nweke in the SSN. I think it’s going to wonders for her game.
However on that note, I mentioned this some time ago, and this series (FINALLY) proved it. I always felt our NZ league was good enough, and that our players did not have to go to SSN. All we needed was for the coach (and co) to select the RIGHT team!
We have come to the point where we all believe that for the Ferns to be great again, our players need to be playing in Aus. Now I don’t necessarily disagree with that, look what it’s done for England and Jamaica.
But we just won a series with not one single SSN player.
Which brings me back to the coach. DNT did a great job, and finally got the mix right. The Ferns absolutely killed it in the first 3 games. However the fourth game showed just how damaging a coaches decision can be for a team. We have great players in NZ, but the coach has to be “ON” in every game. I just feel at international level we shouldn’t be constantly trialing things. It took too long (2-3years) to finally get it right. That’s too long!
I really hope that Toeava gets her fitness to standards. Imagine having her on the sideline? Add in a fit Metaurua, our Ferns could be very dominant for a good few years.
