Lightning is simply playing like a well-oiled machine. At one stage they led the 3rd Q 17-8 before Firebirds put some respectability in the score late.

Full time: Lightning 76-65

If anything, this win was more comprehensive than the scoreline indicates. Lightning was in control for most of the game. 8 super shots to 3 helped Firebirds stay somewhat in touch. No surprise Ash Ervin was POTM.

Great to see the Lightning young up and comers taking out POTM (Ervin this week and Mi Mi last week) over Diamonds players in the team. They’re obviously benefiting from being around them and it’s great for the future of the club.

I’m quite excited to watch it but my hopes aren’t super high. Expecting a Tbirds win without Proud but should still be a cracking game!

A very frantic first quarter. 11 turnovers already. Great all court defence and no easy passes. Lili Gorman-Brown is having a ripper of a game so far.

The umpire at the Swifts defence end is whistle happy hopefully it will consistent. Pretty even so far it’s just the relentless pressure of the magnificent Tbird defence that eventually gets on top of teams.

What is going on??? We’ve seen just 13 goals in 11 1/2 minutes in this second Q! And Swifts have only managed 4 of them. Tbirds 21-17

1/2 time: Tbirds 23-20

What a crazy game. It’s all about the defensive pressure and the errors. Tbirds certainly not great with the ball but they’ve been terrific without it.
