Interesting, I thought Crampton was going to the states to be with her partner
Jamie Hume is also following the new NSW premier league side on Instagram.
Wonder what’s happened to Ang Frketic ?
Seems to play well at ANL level and has dropped off the Giants TP list.I just went onto Hume’s Instagram and she posted a pic from the State Netball Centre at Sydney Olympic Park. Is she a Swifts TP? I looked at the Swifts stories but they were too fuzzy to make anything out.
Is Temu confirmed as a TP with Swifts or am I making that up?
“My netball journey is still in its early stages and I want to prove to myself and the team that I’m ready for an opportunity when and if it arises." ????
Audrey is locked in as a TP for 2024! @supernetball

Hume confirmed as a Swifts training partner in an interview between Mark Stafford and Yvonne Willering – Ian has posted the link in the Nations Cup and ANZP threads.
Apparently lured to Australia to work as a teacher where she can get much better pay than NZ. Nothing on if Swifts approached Hume, or the other way round.
Crampton has PT qualifications, may be looking to do something similar in Aus? However like a lot on here, recall her original plan was to move to the States by her partner. Who knows, he could also be in Aus?
Very interesting to see so many of these TP spots taken by international players.
TPs earn $5k, these roles whilst predominantly to support the team are also a huge part of the Australian development pathways.
I know that there was a specific limitation that the “11th” spot or main TP has to be a Diamonds eligible player and under a certain age (from memory it was about 26) but I’d hope that other processes than just that are being put in place to support Australian player’s development. We know the ANC is not sufficient and there is a review on that but clearly more needs to be done in this space.
Just look at the talent that has come through for Australia via TPs in just the last 1-2 years. Fawns, Ervin, Cransberg, Black, Gorman-Brown, Mi Mi and more. I’d be very sad to see the likes of the opportunities they received and took being blocked.
I don’t know exactly how, but I’m quite sure that wealthy clubs are easily able to support TPs more than the $5k salary if they want to. I don’t know the exact finances of the clubs but my impression is that the NNSW clubs are amongst the wealthiest, which is where the international TPs/replacement players tend to go.
The Giants poached a whole bunch of Swifts TPs because they had a better package, not simply better opportunities. The Swifts have consistently brought in top players as replacements (Rore, Haythornthwaite, Aiken-George). Hume may be on the base considering the move was more driven by her teaching career, but I except Crampton and Temu are getting a lot more than $5K through different agreements. I’m curious who the 11th players will be from these clubs though.
No offence to Jamie Hume, but surely there are 50 better GA’s in Sydney.
And McLeod that’s part of my point. Hume selected over someone like Millie Roach.
They can pay more than $5k but the total TP payments still need to fall within a set limit within the cap. It’s not that high. But to be honest I don’t really care how much Crampton and co are getting paid I’m more concerned about them taking up pathway and development opportunities. Given this is happening across multiple clubs seems like a trend towards stacking TP positions and then relying on their academy environments.
We really need the old ANL back. It was far better than what we have now with ANC and everything else falling back on state league. It was also a great way to accelerate the development of talented juniors. Much harder for players to break through as teenagers nowadays.
Surely a training partner needs to be a non import. What incentive is there for Netballers in Australia, when a 40% shooting GA, who can’t get a gig in the ANZ, can just phone a friend and waltz into the Swifts as a TP.
Julie F connections to NZ, doesn’t surprise me that she has a few NZ players in her mix.
But seeing how Akle has just been apart of the Ferns tour, and has now recruited a few NZ players (albeit TPs) makes me wonder.
The surprising one, as others have mentioned, is Hume. Don’t get me wrong, I quite like her and think she has so much more to offer. But there’s so much more talent in Aus who is probably just as talented if not more than her.I do wonder at what stage did Crampton and Giants had a conversation? To me it seems only recently, because I feel like if they had spoken earlier (like right at the beginning) she may have gotten a contract over Chelsea Pitman.
Re Gina Crampton:
Any conversation about playing in Australia must of been recent. Wasn’t part of her plan for her sabbatical at all. However tge New York Rigby 7s team her partner played for folded due to finances. It doesn’t exist anymore. Partner is now moving to Australia but not known ant more than thatThey should have signed Ash Barnett she was a star at ANC and has the X Factor
After watching Firebirds against Swifts !!!! Why oh why did you not sign Ash Barnett
