Working signs with Samason only getting one quarter. Replaced by Temu who was impressive.

Not impressed with Samason’s shot selection and movement in the circle – 2/5 is yuck! Temu did well however was easily double-teamed in the fourth quarter.

Wondering how this Stars team will do when Crampton departs…

Why are these teams dragging in ex player’s who weren’t even named initially? Doesn’t seem fair to the girls stuck on the bench.

Steel much improved from last week – Shannon Saunders took the court after two minutes in WA, unsure why they didn’t start with her. Mystics 16 – Steel 13

                1/4 time: Mystics 16-13

                Namana 8/8 (100%)
                Heffernan 5/6 (83%)

                Nweke 13/16 (81%)
                Vui 2/2 (100%)
                Glen 1/1 (100%)

Shannon Saunders came on early in the match, and she is making a BIG difference to this Steel team. this is a much more competitive showing.

                  1/2 time: Mystics 32-25

                  Namana 17/17 (100%)
                  Heffernan 8/12 (67%)

                  Nweke 23/26 (88%)
                  Vui 8/8 (100%)
                  Glen 1/1 (100%)

Mystics just edging further in front in the second quarter, but they’re certainly not having things all their own way out there.

                    3/4 time: Mystics 46-39

                    Namana 26/26 (100%)
                    Heffernan 13/19 (68%)

                    Nweke 35/39 (90%)
                    Vui 9/9 (100%)
                    Glen 2/3 (67%)

Steel narrowed the gap to just 3 in that 3rd Q before some basic errors saw the lead go out again. But they’ve battled hard in this one.

                      Full time: Mystics 61-52

                      Namana 33/33 (100%)
                      Heffernan 14/20 (70%)
                      O’Connell 5/6 (83%)

                      Nweke 48/52 (92%)
                      Vui 9/9 (100%)
                      Glen 4/5 (80%)

                      Gains: MYS 15-10
                      Intercepts: STE 8-6
                      Penalties: MYS 54-45
                      Turnovers: STE 20-19

                      POTM: Grace Namana (Steel)

A solid win for Mystics. They were in control for most of the game. Phoenix Karaka on fire for them. Some really encouraging signs for Steel too. Grace Namana was terrific. Jen O’Connell went down with an injury at the end, but she seemed to be okay postmatch.

Good to see the Steel have a decent chance after the performance last week. Saunders adds so much energy to the front line, and I think they are starting to find Namana well. The best game I’ve seen Namana play to date – reminds me of Halpenny.

Namana played in the UK, at GA, and she was good. It was 121 marking so she has lots of experience.

100% shooting from Summer T cannot be ignored but I felt Stars were reluctant to pass her ball. She got lots of rebounds and pick ups but I felt they only wanted to pass to Wilson. Surprised Watson and Burger didn’t make more of it
