3/4 time: NZ 48-39
Nweke 36/39 (92%)
Ekenasio 12/14 (86%)Garbin 22/24 (92%)
Dwyer 7/8 (88%)Gains: NZ 7-5
Penalties: AUS 49-44
Turnovers: AUS 14-11AUS showed some fight in that quarter, but too little too late it appears. NZ comfortably on top.
I totally agree that Aryang is a great WD, but I do think that the issue in this series has been stopping the ball early to Nweke (issues in attack aside).
If Price isn’t in WD, Moloney is not the answer there and I think Weston must be on managed minutes so Aryang needed to start in GD.
I don’t think Aus needs to panic though. Bruce had an off year due to injury and has just come back from surgery, and Weston has been rested and recovering.
By the way, even in the first test which they won easily, and this test which they also look like winning, NZ has lost the third quarter both times. There’s something about that 3rd Q.
I’d like to see Horjus come into the game day team and see if she can add anything different as a WA or GA. I understand Bruce has been injured but on that same line of thinking, I would like to see Ellis or Ervin (I know she’s not in the squad) getting game time alongside Aryang or Garrett at GD with Price at WD.
I think Horjus is way to short to play against the NZ defence but happy to be proved wrong.
Ekenasio in tears in her post game comments with Storm Purvis.
Great win by NZ. Honestly an unrecognisable side from the previous 2024 tests.
It’s like Maia Wilson refuses to look into Grace, I noticed it in the TJT series.
NZ wins 63-52 and takes a 2-0 lead in the series. The second half was better for AUS but the damage was already done. The Diamonds just had no answer really, particularly in both circles. A totally dominant performance from the Ferns.
Don’t worry Australia. You will break the losses on NZ soil next year. I hope NNZ reverse their decision.
I cannot believe all this momentum will be lost next year without Grace.

NZ and their win isn’t just down to Nweke. Walmsley was quite impressive last CC. If they bring this form I think they can win without Nweke.
NZ a completely different side to what we have seen previously. They look like they are playing for each other. Poi definitely earning her spot.
Surely Dwyer has to start next game – reward her for two great performances. She often just turns and shoots, unlike Austin when she plays against Jackson.
I agree with the other comments about Horjus being a bit short, but I’d still like to see her in the side. She’s fast and will provide something different to Watson. I think Moloney loses her spot as you can use both Price and Hadley in WD.
Courtney Tairi to Nweke: “That’s your last game on home soil for a while.”
Nweke (quite boisterously): “Hopefully not!”. Love it.
I’d love to know what went on in the 5 day Ferns camp last week. Because the turn around has been quick sensational.
Stacey Marinkovich’s win % as Diamonds coach:
In New Zealand: 10%
Anywhere else: 89%It’s 1331 days since Australia last won a test in NZ, but now we head to Australia for Test 3 on Sunday and it will be 1835 days since the Ferns last won there.
