Fever is on a run and Giants call a time out. Kelsey Browne is on fire! Fever 15-11

Greetings from the first game of the season! None of the defence is getting clean possession, Fever have just capitalised on the few Giants attacking errors a bit better. It’s a REALLY high score so far, 19-15 to Fever with 3 mins to go!

I’m really admiring Giants’ passing into tiny spaces – well selected, timed and executed for the most part. It’s when they try for too much flair they can get turnovers.

Supershots raining down, Jhaniele has 2/2 and Dwyer 3/3.

Crumbs! Although I don’t think Fever getting 26 in a quarter is the record (remember last year they got 97), it’s a strong statement. Both teams need to mix up their defence, try something to interrupt the shooters – ZERO gains in the first quarter.

It’s 26-21. Fever converted all (4/4) of the Giants turnovers into goals. Giants got 5/5 supershots.

These two teams normally have a shoot out. Looks like no different today. Fever leads 26-21 and it’s only 1/4 time!

Hardly seems fair when Jhaniele isn’t just dominating under the post, but is landing super shots with ease!

Good to see O’brien on in Gk because McDonnell wasn’t really doing anything.

Is Winders an option for Giants in WA? A few brain fades from Pitman and Anstiss seems to have most of her leads covered.

Fever well on top at this stage. Did anyone see this scoreline coming? Fever 43-31

Julie F called another timeout with 5mins left in second quarter, she does this more often than not as they enter the power 5.

Fever leading 42-29, they have made NO TURNOVERS in the second quarter, and Jhaniele rebounded Beckford’s only miss. The four Fever attackers are so well balanced, there are two sprinting (Browne, Beckford), and two standing tall with more economical movement (JFN and ATN), it really plays to their strength.

One thing I didn’t miss about live games is the squealing! Lots of squealing for every supershot by Dwyer.

                                Oh another T/O

The changes made in the Giants D end did make sense, but it’s clear they need to change SOMETHING in the attack end – it’s not like any of them are having a terrible game but you’d have to think Pitman is the one to have a break (IAW Defenc-R there) – Winders can play any of those positions, and Fitz seems to love having 3 WDs on at once like in most seasons hahaha
