      1/2 time: Magpies 33-28

      Kumwenda 17/22
      Austin 8/10

      Nelson 20/22
      Sinclair 2/4

After struggling early in the quarter, Vixens have battled hard to get back into it. But Magpies still with a handy 5-goal lead. The trio of Jovic, Browne & Nelson starring for them.

        Put Mannix on at GK.

Kelsey Browne playing well. Can the Diamonds afford to take two specialist WA’s to the CWG? It certainly feels a more comfortable proposition than two WDs.

Lewis is doing okay. Actually has won the most ball of any Vixen. But Mannix is on.

            I’d bring Barkmeyer on.

Nice to see Lambden get a debut and go out and attack the ball.

Magpies have been far more physical from the first ball. Vixens are wearing body in every contest especially Austin and Watson. In contrast Magpies are not. It’d rattled the Vixens shooters from the start. Shame Rahni wasn’t there today to get her chance.

They put the penalties up a little earlier. There was only two between them. Would prefer a contact penalty count.

Magpies’ feed into Nelson became too easy. Vixens needed a change, but it’s not working.

If Vixens are to challenge, they need to force some Magpies turnovers in a hurry. As it stands, Collingwood has a comfortable 12-goal lead.

Contact penalty count is currently 55-39 against Magpies!

Seriously, Kelsey Browne… 25 assists, 4 gains, 3 deflections, 21 centre-pass receives. No surprise she gets the MVP.

And she’s not in the Diamonds squad!

Thanks for that stat. The contact penalty count didn’t hurt Magpies. It was clearly their game plan to be overly physical. Watson and Austin wore body on every take of the ball and constantly through court. Not pretty to watch but the tactic worked. Ward had 19 and Brazill 10.

In a team losing by 10 Watson still topped the feeds and goal assists for the match.

Shame Vixens didn’t have Rahni today. She would have made a big difference to be able to give the shooters a rest and change up.

                              Yes, missed Rahni today.

And Eddy, who is under-rated or, at worst, a bit hot and cold.

Vixen’s goal % was fine for 1 point shots, but not for 2 point shots.

Just putting it out there… they were dead last only a week ago, but are Magpies genuine title contenders? The early part of their season was Covid-affected, and ever since they’ve got their troops back, they’ve been outstanding. Their current form is very hard to deny.

They missed them all. I mentioned Rahni as she is injured rather than covid. Austin would have been exhausted so even the chance to give her a 5 minute break would have been useful.

Moloney a full game post covid. Had Mundy been there she could have taken a rest or gone back to WD.

Yes Eddy’s protection is very underrated. As is her work rate in attack compared to Mannix’s.
