1/4 time: Fever 21-20
True to form for these teams it’s action-packed, high-scoring, and close on the scoreboard. A totally different Giants team with the two big inclusions, and they’re doing what they need to do to challenge Fever – keep the turnovers down.
An interesting one. Giants making a rolling sub in the defensive circle while Fever had the centre pass, so it was effectively 2 against 1. As if it’s not already difficult enough against Fowler.
Fever leads 34-27, as we approach super shot time once again.
Giants taking absolute advantage of the super shot after some impressive defensive work from price. Now Fever throwing the ball away through simple errors and Giants not afraid to capitalise. A 10-goal margin can quickly become 2!
1/2 time: Fever 40-37
That’s how quickly things can change. Fever was up by 10 with 2 1/2 mins left. Then 2 turnovers against them and 2 Giants possessions, all resulting in super shots, meant that Giants went on an 8-1 run and the difference is back to 3.
3/4 time Fever 63-52.
Fever won that Q 23-15, thanks largely to Courtney Bruce really coming into the game with 4 gains and Sasha Glasgow landing 3 super shots. Not impossible for Giants to come back from here but it’ll be tough.
Here we go. The lead is back to just 5 with 4 1/2 minutes left. And this is your reminder that these two teams have a habit of playing high-scoring thrillers with barely a goal or two separating them.
Jess Anstiss!!!
Anstiss comes up with a vital play to snuff out Giants’ chances and Fever wins it 74-73!
It’s another classic between these two teams, and Fever has started their title defence with 2 one-goal wins.
MVP must have been close, almost everybody on court played a great game.
Giants almost did it. 11 down at 3/4 time and they won the last Q by 10. Unsurprisingly, the super shot helped them in this game, as they scored 15 to Fever’s 5.
Alice Teague-Neeld awarded POTM, but Sasha Glasgow was enormous for them as well. What a game.
Vixens should bring Mundy on at WA. Watson has 3 turnovers already and is not feeding well. Give Mundy a go.
The Foxtel score and time clocks are frustrating.
Has Garbin changed her shooting style? She’s more accurate and looks more comfortable at the moment, I think there’s less arch in her back and more power from her arm than knees. Still looks a bit awkward but if it works, it works!
What an action-packed first quarter. Magpies go in leading 18-15. Lots of turnovers, but it’s not a poor quality game. The errors have come largely as a result of the pressure and pace of the game.
How much game time did Harten see, and what was her movement like?
Harten played 60 minutes, I thought she was very impressive. Maybe out of the circle a little less than usual? No significant difference, her shot was excellent and her movement was slick.
