Ferns have won more ball than being down by 6 suggests.
That midcourt needs to settle. Would try Saunders with Poi.
1/4 time: Aus 12-6
Wilson 4/5 (80%)
Ekenasio 2/3 (67%)Koenen 3/3 (100%)
Austin 9/10 (90%)The Australian defence was so strong in that Q. Can they keep it up?
I guess it’s favouritism then 🤷♂️
Charles has not done anything special, to warrant her spot in the 12. It is also her first time playing for Diamonds too right?Grrr Moloney is right in front of Bruce instead she throws a high pass over Watson’s head. Stop trying to be the attacking superstar Bruce.
Diamonds attack throw the ball around for 30 seconds until eventually, NZ causes a turnover. This is what worries me about Stacey not tinkering with the attack, if their struggles progressively increase, there isn’t much that they can fall back on with a lot of confidence.
Another turnover from the shooters. NZ now only down by 2…
Loving hearing from Taurua during the game “Jane-o!”
Weston has the weirdest shoulder pass technique.
I think we need Price in centre.
Ferns need to add more front cuts. They are doing a lot of running out wide and around. When they pass and cut, things open up for them.
Bruce needs to back off and re set.
Austin looks like she’s sucking on the big ones. Seems buggered.
I feel that’s Austin’s normal look.
Wilson is moving way too much. Our attack looks lost when she comes out of the circle. Ekenasio should be offering more of that movement, and leave Wilson on the hold (not the other way around).
I wonder if Eke’s calf is not allowing her to move as much? The circle functions so much better when Austin looks to set up Koenen instead of just front driving and taking endless midrange shots. I’d take Austin off for this quarter and put Bassett/Garbin on at GS with Koenen at GA. If it doesn’t work, bring Austin back on and hopefully it’ll get some air into her lungs having the break.
The Diamonds defensive three are doing a really good job, if these girls can earn how to play more consistently out of attack I think that should be the lineup going forward.
Moloney needs to come off she doesn’t offer enough in attack. With Austin getting more tired we’ll just have a repeat of the previous two test matches if she stays on.
1/2 time: Aus 22-17
Wilson 12/14 (86%)
Ekenasio 5/7 (71%)Koenen 8/11 (73%)
Austin 14/17 (82%)Gains: Aus 7-2
Penalties: NZ 26-24
Turnovers: NZ 13-11Basically the same situation as yesterday. Australia on top but not dominant. Can they hold on this time?
