Yes, agree, definitely don’t think it’s been on their radar, and may not be – sorry I didn’t word that very well.
Anyone have any intel on JFN being medically unfit?
Also, if Australia is considering locking in Jok, they should do it soon. Jamaica might be wanting to reconsider leaving her out after these results.
in reply to: 2025 SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL #1381279It might help that Miller is back in her home state with balancing study.
Is she at UNE, or a Sydney Uni, does anyone know?
Actually, is she even back in NSW? I’ve made an assumption there.
in reply to: 2025 SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL #1381276Gorman Brown seems the obvious choice, Miller definitely in with a shot. Miller plays a more steady style which might be the change up they want, but they have a great target now.
I think they won’t want to move Lamden to C permanently as the idea of recruiting her was to have a solid mainstay in WD (that’s how I see it), so they will definitely be pushing for a WA replacement.
in reply to: 2024 Fast5 Netball World Series #1381236Hard to go past Salmon and L. Austin as players of the tournament.
Interestingly for Australia, I don’t think they would have gone as well without TOS (and she was a replacement player for Ellis), and who would have covered GD had Sligar not replaced Walters? Williams probably, but would not have been as effective.
The reserve players really proved their worth!
in reply to: 2024 Fast5 Netball World Series #1381225Another observation, Frew has cemented herself as a future Diamond and I don’t think it’s too far away.
in reply to: 2024 Fast5 Netball World Series #1381223Oh, and NZ/ChCh has done a great job hosting this tournament.

in reply to: 2024 Fast5 Netball World Series #1381222I think the rule changes have created a more exciting tournament. The sending off feels a little negative due to how often it happens, and that it lead to a “by default” win. No one wants those types of outcomes. Perhaps a better way would be advancing to a penalty shot at goal, where a player can shoot undefended in either 3,2 or 1 (decided by the player)?
Would also like to see a 4th men’s team introduced to give the mens teams more games.
in reply to: 2024 Fast5 Netball World Series #1381188Oh dear, what a ridiculous rule. NZ likely would have come back anyway but was a really unpleasant end to that game.
in reply to: 2024 Fast5 Netball World Series #1381186The NZ Men’s GK seems to have a license to do as he wishes. Jump around in the player’s face, inside 3ft, clap his hands while shooting (this was yesterday against Australia), after jumping the shot stand tall in the way of the shooters vision. It’s as if the play is so erratic that the umpire has no idea what to call.
in reply to: 2024 Fast5 Netball World Series #1381151Yes, the Jok omission really does say a lot about the relationship between her and NJ.
in reply to: 2024 CONSTELLATION CUP – AUS v NZ (October) #1381032I’m still able to locate it.
Can you still find the other games?
in reply to: 2024 CONSTELLATION CUP – AUS v NZ (October) #1380906Thanks Ian.
in reply to: 2024 CONSTELLATION CUP – AUS v NZ (October) #1380900In my opinion, the higher you are up in the rankings, the less risks you feel you can take with every test match, particularly those that sit close to you.
With the way the weighting works, it can be detrimental to your ranking if a team well below you beats you (and the opposite for beating a team well above you).
Interestingly, with NZ now sitting 3rd, these consecutive wins against number 1 carry extra weight.
When England sat in 3rd don’t have much to lose so giving their players that exposure and experimenting outside of major tournaments is not too risky to their ranking and pays dividends for giving their players experience.
I predict at the next review NZ will likely be back to 2nd, especially if England have some losses against Jamaica.
in reply to: 2024 CONSTELLATION CUP – AUS v NZ (October) #1380887Koenen does makes sense as she did not look right on Sunday and she looked close to tears after the match. Hopefully she is feeling supported and can refresh herself for 2025.
The Ellis trial hasn’t worked. I’m sure the diamonds would have engaged with the umpires as they do attend training with each team. Ellis will not get away with that sort of dangerous play at this level.
The back up GS would be Dwyer IMO. I’d like to see Horjus start at WA with Watson in C.
