Birds attempt at goal, almost equaled the Magic’s attempts.

I feel Magic could have benefited more, by recruiting a stronger shooter (Bailey Mes would be a perfect addition). In saying that, McPhee will benefit from all this court time. She’s a great shooter in the making!

Interesting they are basing this decision on the Charity match.
If they knew ANYTHING about netball, they’d know that the fans were all out and “excited” about seeing the All-Stars team playing together (and the Diamonds too)…..than the 2 point rule ?‍♂️

IMO they have misread that Charity game. I doubt that game attracted “new fans” cause there was a 2 point rule ?

Didn’t get to see the game, but looking at the stats (which I know doesn’t give a full story of how the game went), Magic had 1 more attempt at goal. Shooting % obviously a concern for them.

I find Simone to be fairly similar to Wai Taumaunu. Probably would be great to be Diamonds specialist coach, or assistant – not so much as a Head coach. I feel the same way about Vicki Wilson.

I do think someone like JWT would be a perfect fit. She has a great view of the overall game. And she generally selects a well balanced team.

I’m in two minds, when thinking about Julie Fitzgerald being the coach. As I feel she hasn’t done as good as she have, with the Giants. Last season I felt she had selected a very unbalanced team.
However I do feel, she could make the Diamonds team great again – due mainly to her experience as a coach.

I do wonder how someone like Megan Anderson or Claire McM would go in being the head coach. I wonder if they’d change the whole program, team etc OR run it in line with what LA has created?

Sam Wallace @ $2 is a great score, and Sharelle is the ? and would totally dominate if she was playing today’s game. I think she’d combine well with both Wallace or Donna Wilkins (my reserve shooter).

I’ve been a fan of Anna Stanley (Rowberry) for years. Always thought her style of feeding – loves the bullet passes and the quick play – would suite feeding McMahon. Although my first preference for WA is Shelley O’Donnell. Langman is just a natural super fit person, and having her and Brazil working together would be amazing to watch. Rebecca Saunders (bench midcourter) would slot in easy at either C or WA. She has great speed and vision, and is super fit too.

Liz Boniello IMO was one of the best defenders going. I rate her on par with KHW, Julie Corletto etc. She would be a perfect foil for Shamera or Benice Mene (bench defender). Mene has the ability to run out at GD too, and I think she’d work in well with Shamera too.

Slightly off topic…..but they are running an Allstar team (kind of thing) on the SSN App. They are up to selecting a GD – which I guess would be a no brainer – However they have Erena Mikaere as one of the contenders, and no Maddy Turner ?‍♂️?‍♂️

I probably didn’t explain it properly. Their speed was very impressive, and I felt that got them over the Steel. However I can’t see them playing any faster than that. Like I said before, I hope they prove me wrong ?‍♂️

The Steel IMO didn’t have their best game, but still managed to stay in there. I feel they can really improve on this performance. In particular if their GS improves her shooting % they could be very hard to beat.

You would think with all the preseason training they’ve had, combinations should have gelled by now?
I really enjoyed this game, and am glad Magic won. However I think Steel will improve a lot over the season. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they make finals.

I’m loving watching Magic’s attack end work. They have great speed through their midcourt, and ALM is doing some really good stuff out there. However I kind of feel (and I hope they prove me wrong) this is as good as they can get.
