This is such a fantastic article and something for netball as a whole to look at. There are so many issues with current uniforms from cultural, modesty and climate that it needs to be addressed. When I was coaching juniors a few years ago we played outside at 8.30am in Winter where it often was 1 or 2 degrees when they hit the court. The poor things would be shaking with the cold and they couldn’t wear anything under their flimsy dresses.
Wow what an incredible story.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1316304Please no Stanton for Vixens! She’s had her opportunities (pretty much full season in 2017 with Medhurst) and hasn’t been in good enough form since to demand more court time.
Would be a good pick up for a UK team but they are probably way down the line with recruiting now.
in reply to: MELBOURNE VIXENS 2020 #1316105Here is the link Kate Eddy article hopefully it works.
in reply to: Laura Langman retires from netball #1316014I thought it was coming but it is still very sad to see her finish. What an amazing career she has had. It was brilliant to have her play in Australia even though it was at a great cost to her.
Thanks for the amazing images throughout the whole season Marcela. This gallery is just brilliant.
Some amazing images there. Love that the Mwai balancing feat was captured frame by frame and all the raw emotions captured were brilliant.
Thanks for all the hard work Simon.in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1315921Leopard I think you are taking people’s comments too personally. I haven’t weighed in on the ALJ issue before but I do agree with other comments about her not being up to SSN standard. I don’t agree with the cookies comment made because I agree that players need to have other interests/jobs. But if she was good enough she would have demanded time on the court. We have seen this with other benchies who have had little court time but have been great injections to the game. ALJ seems like a really lovely person and is a good netballer, just not great. That does not reflect on her personally.
in reply to: NS SCOREBOARD #1315457Huge thanks to the writers and photographers for their amazing work this season. I look forward to the newsletter each week as the best wrap up of the round and with insights we don’t see in the mainstream media.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1315456I think Haythornthwaite will go back home. She has a fiance in the UK and with no certainty as to international borders being opened again anytime soon it would be hard (after not seeing them for probably 9 months) to possibly have to wait another year. Ditto for Francis.
in reply to: 2020 SSN GRAND FINAL – VIXENS v FEVER #1315455Thanks for that Tully. I would have loved to have been there. It was such a quality game by both sides and a great advertisement of the game.
I’m really glad that ATN has had the backing of Marinkovich and it has done wonders for her confidence. She is a fantastic playmaker and her shooting has improved so much.
in reply to: Caitlin Bassett makes her decision #1314755I 100% agree with everything you wrote Tully.
Agree MontyandPoppy, Giants have the next Diamonds GA and JF wasn’t willing to put them on court together. I think they would be a great combination and it’s baffling why it wasn’t even tried at training. I know Harten is the golden child but she had some very poor games this season and it would have been good to try something different.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1314352I think the Covid situation will play heavily into the decisions of some of the import players as to whether they will remain in Australia. It is one thing to leave your family and move here but know they can visit and you can go back in the breaks but not having an end date to when you will see your parents, child or partner again is really hard. Many of them won’t have seen them for the best part of a year by the time this season ends and it could be another year until international travel opens up.
in reply to: NS EXCLUSIVE: It’s time for Caitlin Thwaites #1314351Amazing article. I feel sad that she is retiring but also happy that she is going out on her terms. As much as so many people say “why are they retiring” of athletes they just don’t realise the huge toll it takes on the body, worklife, family, relationships etc.
