in reply to: 2021 SSN Pre-Season Matches #1321551
Hmm, I’m not loving Stanton so far. Doesn’t seem to be an option often meaning Moloney is having to do so much work. Her combination with MJ works well sometimes and others she is trying to go for the same space. Hopefully they’ll work it out before the season starts. I hate the 2 point shot but if Vixens doesn’t have someone confident to go for them, it’s going to hurt in close games.
For Tbirds, I think Van De Merve is doing well and putting a lot of pressure on, Nankiville is doing a lot of work in C, Horjus a much better option at GA than Gooden, Potgeiter is having a quietism game with Mannix contesting really well on her.
in reply to: 2021 SSN Pre-Season Matches #1321546MelbourneVixens 16 Tbirds 10 at 1/4 time. Pretty messy so far. Attack end for Vixens taking awhile to settle. Moloney doing a world of work, Stanton behind a lot of the time and not an option, Honey seems nervous and has made a few errors.
5 minutes into the 2nd quarter and Vixens are up 22-11. Some great defensive work by Mannix, Eddy and Smith
in reply to: 2021 SSN Pre-Season Matches #1321538This is a really good match so far. 32 all at half time. Giants without Austin (Dwyer going really well) and Parmenter. Tilly McDonnell is having a great game as well. Poolman is there in her dress but I don’t think she has taken the court yet.
Harten looks like she is going to snot Jenner LOL. Plenty of “physicality” going on.
Rav is playing really well and is going to kill it this season. Looks happy and super fit. Bueta swapping in and out with Dwan and looking good also. Simpson has had some good gains and seems to be back to her old form.
Not so far Ian. I’m going to post on Facebook. I’m giving it away so hopefully I can get someone to use it.
in reply to: 2021 NSW Premier League #1321506Thanks Ian, will check some games out.
in reply to: Ordineroli Speaking – Caitlin thwaites #1320866It was an incredible listen. Caitlin is such an amazing advocate for speaking about mental health and giving people an insight into what it is like dealing with mental illness. The fact that she even played last year let alone nailing the GA position is absolutely incredible. I’m a Vixens fan but I don’t think many would be upset with her having the fairytale ending.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1320250The umpire did call “3 seconds” so Aus lose centre pass.I thought Moloney delayed as much as possible getting to the centre and on the screen it was 1-2 seconds when she walked in but obviously that clock was slightly out.
in reply to: Sharni Layton – No Apologies #1319816Downloaded this on my Kindle and read it on the weekend. Would love to hear what people think.
in reply to: NS EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea Pitman – Lost and Found #1319758Once again Jenny Sinclair and Netball Scoop doing an outstanding job in bringing these important stories to the public.
Such a tragic loss. I’m in Adelaide at the moment and a few of my nieces knew Ivy-Rose. Sending condolences to her family and her netball community.
in reply to: Australian captaincy #1319347I actually don’t mind this idea. I think appointing someone short term when the squad is pretty new and not settled might be counterproductive.
Giving several players the opportunity to lead for a game will help with appointing the ongoing captain.
in reply to: 2021 VNSL ROUND 1 & 2 #1319275I will catch up on this game as it sounds like a good one. How devastating for a team to lose so many players to injury in one game. I really hope they are all OK.
@jinxibo Wallam is 26 so not super young. The tall shooters seems to be able to go longer in their careers though so she may still make a Diamonds team.- This reply was modified 3 years, 3 months ago by AllieC.
in reply to: 2021 VNSL ROUND 1 & 2 #1319224Zara her fitness has never seemed to be as high as her teammates. In a good team dynamic she shouldn’t be intimidated. She seemed to be well loved at her past few teams so I’m sure they were super supportive of her. She has been in elite teams for years now and hasn’t seemed to improve so not sure that it is going to happen. Yes she needs more court time but coming on for short bursts has made many players as we saw last year. When the opportunity comes you just have to grab it. I hope she does well, going OS (especially during a pandemic) can’t have been an easy decision.
in reply to: 2021 VNSL ROUND 1 & 2 #1319201so good to have netty back. I’ve just sorted out a VPN so have only watched the Dragons v Rhinos game so far.
Jinixibo thanks for all the great commentary on the games. One point to make on this comment:
“Walliams didn’t look out of place and she ran down lots of ball. She’s not polished enough to be a diamond.
Can’t help but wonder if she looked settled because Lee-Jones was so ineffective. Have to admit I’ve seen her in SSN and expected more”.Wallam has only been playing netball for a couple of years so has huge Diamond’s potential. Not just yet but in a few years I think we will see her in the team. I would expect huge improvement in the couple of seasons. She was only a training partner for West Coast Fever last year and hasn’t played any SSN games so I’m not sure where you have seen her. She is very much an unknown even in Australia (but not for long LOL).
Agree with ALJ. She has been lucky to be in SSN teams but hasn’t really done much at all in her few appearances in games. If Noeline couldn’t improve her then I don’t know who can.
