in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1319881
I see it more as Moloney and Charles in for Proud and Hadley – meaning the latter will get a test together as a combo at the expense of the former. Watson is a no brainer for all tests.
I am actually looking forward to seeing Charles play C with a quality WA. She is super fit and has a decent defensive game.
in reply to: 2021 CONSTELLATION CUP – NZ v AUST (March) #1318949You won’t have to leave Weston out because internationals have a game day squad of 12. :good:
in reply to: LEEDS RHINOS NETBALL 2021 #1317742I reckon Wallam has a good shot at making the Diamonds before she turns 30. A late bloomer but would be a handy pick up for a WC if the past couple of years have been anything to go by.
The integrity of the Diamonds coach?
Haha. I’m sure she wishes she had control of such matters, however salary packages of the players have nothing to do with Stacey Marinkovich or her character. Give her a break!
I have not read any articles but I wonder if it’s not even to do with this season.
Glasgow, Eddy and O’brien have overcome serious injuries since the last WYC which has hindered their development. And players that didn’t make the team but were reserves are now in the Diamonds squad in Garbin and Jenner.
in reply to: 2020 Netball NSW Premier League #1316860Enjoying watching Sophie Dwyer in the final. She has such a lovely shot from anywhere.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1316782Lucky one Aussie shooter will be getting lots of court time in NZ!
in reply to: WEST COAST FEVER 2021 #1316486This gives Fever a bit more of a future beyond Fowler and some stronger options in attack.
I agree she’s stronger at GS, perhaps once she has worked on her GA game she will be better in GS. Similar to Garbin I suppose.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1316288Schmeetle I think you are correct.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1316277Yes, but that was a positive discussion for Eddy. Fever telling Stanton she was unwanted isn’t positive.
And you can’t really compare anything that happened in 2019 to 2020 – non netball related too!

in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1316275None of the other teams that played in the final have let go of players, or announced publicly at least. Craig and Swifts is the only one I can think of, but it appears if the squads are 12 players then there will be room made for her. Telling Stanton before the final could have had a detrimental impact on the team if she was needed on court. I’m not sure the day after a grand final loss is appropriate either, given they flew back to WA the next day.
Also, I’m sure it was about getting the players home as soon as possible because WA is the only state that requires the hotel quarantine for every person entering the state.
I’m not saying it’s harsh on Stanton(or Eagland for that matter), it would be awful for her being alone in a hotel room and facing this news. But there are some unique circumstances in play for the Fever.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1316270I think Fever are in a tough position because it wouldn’t be in their best interests to advise any players before finals that they aren’t be considered for next season. The quarantine is also unavoidable, as is the cut off for signing players.
With regards to Stacey M, this wouldn’t have been her choice entirely. She is the front person but she isn’t the person calling all the shots, particularly with the way things are announced.
I could be wrong, but I don’t think Fever would be interested in having Pitman in their team again. Been there, done that. It’s looking more possible that it’s Glasgow or like I posted yesterday, Donell Wallam.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1316236Agree.
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1316229Anstiss is the type of WD that doesn’t take intercept after intercept but she does the ground work to slow down the ball for her defenders. She also gets sneaky penalties without pushing the limits and quite often they help with slowing things down so the defenders can reset if they are out of position. The best WDs play like this. It’s this area that concerned Lisa A with players like Simpson, Braz etc – they were chasing the intercepts and not doing the ground work to keep the pressure on.
in reply to: WEST COAST FEVER 2021 #1316057There is definitely a place for Aryang in the 10. Fever could very well go for a couple of swing players.
For example:
Fowler
ATN
WallamCosh (can also cover GA)
Charles
Anstiss
Francis (can also play circle D)Bruce
Lewis
Aryang. It’s unlikely they’d promote Wallam at this stage but they won’t have Fowler forever so it would be great if they could expose her now. Then they have great cover for Fowler if anything happens, but they can still change up the circle with Cosh who is more than serviceable in goals.
