A lot of obstructions not called
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 7 – THUNDERBIRDS v VIXENS #1309901How was that not obstruction? ?♂️
in reply to: Silver Ferns squad announced #1309867I do wonder if Mikaere is in there more so as a useful training partner?
Eg use her reach against shooters, to really put pressure on them. Or maybe used in the WD position (for practice matches) to use her long rangy arms, to make it harder for the middies?in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 7 – GIANTS v FIREBIRDS #1309866That’s not a bad plan Havingalook. Romelda would be perfect to defend those 2 point shots.
in reply to: 2020 ANZP GRAND FINAL – PULSE v TACTIX #1309678I think Eke played a big part in those long bomb shots too.
I don’t believe our girls need to play in the SSN, to be competitive at international level. I quite liked the standard they were playing in NZ.
The SSN is such a different competition now. The 2 pointer is one thing, but the rolling subs (IMO) won’t really benefit them at international level. I feel some players lose that feel of working through the game, when in a little slump.in reply to: Laura Langman retires from international netball #1309677Probably one of few players (I can’t think of anyone who’s done the same), that has won WC WYC CWG NBC ANZC and SSN.
Great career, amazing athlete, from all reports an amazing person too. She always seems so humble and grounded.
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 6 – VIXENS v GIANTS #1309518I’ve seen JLP play GD before (however that was a long time ago). I quite liked her there. With how she’s developed over the years, I think she’d be a great tagging type of GD.
I view her, very similar-ish to Holly Fowler/Kayla Cullen. They are tall (midcourt standards) and very athletic. Coaches like to push them out to C, but they are a bigger threat at WD/GD.in reply to: 2020 ANZP GRAND FINAL – PULSE v TACTIX #1309511Great write-up Andrew Kennedy……enjoyed the read ?
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 6 – LIGHTNING v THUNDERBIRDS #1309461Interesting, no warning on that late challenge!
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 6 – VIXENS v GIANTS #1309447I would choose CBass as the starting GS over Harten. Her height alone can sometimes be a get-out-of-jail card, when things start to get tight in the attack.
Austin needs to stay in GA, and Hay in WA.This is a lineup I’d love to see:
GS CBass
GA Austin
WA Hay
C Parmenter
WD Manu’a
GD JLP
GK Poolman
Completely left field from what they normally run, but something I’d like to see.in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 6 – VIXENS v GIANTS #1309404She should have been playing in GA last year too!
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 6 – VIXENS v GIANTS #1309399I’m really impressed on how well these young ones interview. Very well spoken. I’m sure they do some media practise within their clubs, but still impressive.
in reply to: Maddy and the many middies: a Ferns dilemma #1309299We definitely have a lot of speedy midcourters, and they are all playing great netball atm.
I feel like Gordon is more a C player, than a WA? She has all that speed, which sometimes looks a bit caged at WA. I find her and ACD similar in that way.Would love to see her given a go at C, with Crampton and Langman on the wings.
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 5 – LIGHTNING v GIANTS #1309194I agree Mcleod
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 5 – LIGHTNING v GIANTS #1309186CharlesWB I think that’s what everyone is debating, (or confused at least) is the sending off. Most comments on social media are angry that she got sent off for the rest of the game. They are blaming the umpire for doing that, like as if to say “the umpire deemed that contest so dangerous, she overreacted by sending her off for the rest of the game.”
When in actual fact, that umpire was following the next step of the process. Manu’a would have received a warning for it anyways, but the unfortunate thing for her was it was the 3rd time.I for one believe the umpires made the right calls. Over the years I have always heard discussions on how there’s no follow through from umpires. Like “umpires send out warnings all the time…..but nothing comes of them” blah blah blah. But when 2 umpires actually ACTION it, they get hated on. All three collisions from Manu’a were of the EXACT same nature – which warranted the discipline.
